Tim Cook talks importance of collaboration at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business

It seems like Tim Cook's been everywhere lately. Two weeks ago the CEO was in Washington D.C. testifying in a Senate hearing on Apple's offshore tax practices, last week he gave a high-profile interview at the D11 conference, and now this.

Duke has uploaded a number of video clips from a talk Cook gave at its Fuqua School of Business back in April for his 25-year reunion. During the hour-long discussion, he talked about a wide range of topics including what he thinks it takes to foster collaboration in a large company...

Hands-on with the new 16GB iPod touch (video)

Apple yesterday phased out the fourth-gen iPod touch in favor of a new entry-level $229 16GB model. Basically the fifth-generation, it includes EarPods and has the same four-inch Retina screen, Lightning I/O and the A5 chip as other models - sans the iSight camera and the lanyard hook.

However, there's one more major difference between this iPod touch and the more capacious models. Ben Pasternak of Sydney, Australia was one of the first buyers and posted a quick hands-on video...

AltKeyboard: a better way to input alternate keys

Do you find it inconvenient to have to tap the little '123' button on your iPhone's keyboard to bring up the numerical keys? Wouldn't it be better if you could employ a simple swipe gesture to input alternate keys?

That's the exact thinking behind the just released AltKeyboard. It's a collaboration between Sentry — known for Auxo — and Alan Yip — known for Tap to Widgets. In usage, AltKeyboard is a very simple tweak, but its development and design were likely significant undertakings. I say that because AltKeyboard is extremely well thought out and well designed. It provides a feature that many will find useful in their day-to-day routine.

Like we always do for tweaks of this nature, we've gone hands-on to provide you with a full in-depth video walkthrough. Will AltKeyboard be of benefit to your typing habits? Check inside for the full analysis...

Change the way you ‘slide to unlock’ with FXOSLock

Are you getting tired of the old 'slide to unlock' bar on your iPhone's Lock screen? Tough. It's been like that since Apple unveiled the original handset back in 2007, and I doubt it's going to be changing it anytime soon.

But the good news is, if your iPhone is jailbroken, Cydia has hundreds of slider replacements to choose from. In fact, a new one just recently hit the store called FXOSLock that completely changes the way the slider looks...

Jawbone executive unveils new ‘August’ digital door lock

Well known designer and Chief Creative Officer of Jawbone, Yves Behar, gave the world a preview of his next big venture last night. It's called 'August,' and it's an iPhone-connected digital lock system that promises to change the way we open doors.

Now, Internet-enabled smart locks aren't anything new. But what the August brings to the table is a sleek design—which was fashioned by Behar (who designed the Jambox, Up)—and superior functionality. Think of it as the Nest for door locks...

Full video of Tim Cook D11 interview now available

As many of you know, Tim Cook participated in a rare public interview last night at AllThingsD's D11 conference. Speaking with the site's Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg, the CEO talked about a number of topics, including Apple's interest in wearable computers and iOS 7.

NaturalMotion says highly anticipated iOS game Clumsy Ninja is ‘coming soon’

During its iPhone 5 event last fall, Apple invited NaturalMotion CEO Torsten Reil on stage to show off their upcoming iOS game Clumsy Ninja, running on a 5th-gen iPod touch. The demo showed innovative, interactive gameplay, drawing plenty of oohs and aahs from the crowd.

As he wrapped up his presentation, Reil told attendees that the title would be arriving in time for the 2012 holiday season. But here we are in May of 2013, and we've yet to hear any news on a release date. In fact, the developers have been dead silent about the game. Until today...

Volume Amplifier boosts phone call volume by 200%

Volume Amplifier is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to adjust the phone call volume on the iPhone 5 by up to 200%. Created by developer, Yaniv Danan, Volume Amplifier works by directly manipulating the speaker audio stream, which results in a significant amplification of sound.

Danan claims that his tweak differs from previous attempts at volume boosting tweaks, in that it manipulates the audio stream, instead of trying to alter specific configuration files. I've tested out Volume Amplifier for myself, and I can confirm that it does result in a significant boost in phone call volume on my jailbroken iPhone 5. Take a look inside as I go hands-on with Volume Amplifier on video...

AirPlay streaming, HDMI out and web UI coming to Infuse media player

I was quite excited about Infuse, a versatile and nice-looking iOS media player by FireCore, the team behind the aTV Flash Black. The one and only major gripe I had with the software is its absence of AirPlay streaming, which is quite a limiting factor if you want to watch your media on the big screen TV through your Apple TV. While AirPlay support is definitely coming in a future update, the team yesterday issued a small update fixing minor inconsistencies and tweaking a few features...
