Twitter looking to roll out photo filters by year’s end

Back in November, The New York Times reported that Twitter was looking to add Instagram-like photo filters to its official web and mobile clients. The move would allow, if not encourage, users to bypass the popular photo-sharing service.

Today comes a follow-up report from Mike Isaac over at AllThingsD, who says that Twitter is indeed working on adding photo filters to its service, a it's hoping to release them via an application update in time for the holiday season...

YouTube app goes iPad, adds AirPlay, iPhone 5 support

Following up on its sweet Gmail refresh earlier today, Google's just announced with a post over at the official YouTube blog a long-expected update to its nice YouTube iPhone app. For starters, the program finally runs on the iPad natively, which means you can now search for kitten videos using your beloved tablet and enjoy them in high-definition on that beautiful 9.7-inch Retina display.

The software also takes full advantage of the iPhone 5's bigger display and lets you stream YouTube clips to your badass TV through the Apple TV hockey puck and using AirPlay, a wireless media streaming technology from Apple. Amazon updates Kindle app with X-Ray for Books

After updating its Kindle e-reading app for the iPhone and iPad last month with the X-Ray for Textbooks feature, the online retailer Amazon today refreshed the software, having added the useful X-Ray for Books capability. Basically the “bones of the book”, as Amazon puts it, X-Ray for Books helps you learn more about notable characters, places and phrases with nice descriptions from Shelfari.com and Wikipedia. In addition to this feature, the new Kindle app also boasts Manga image rendering improvements, per iTunes release notes. Angry Birds Seasons get 25 new wintry levels in 2012 holidays update

Angry Birds maker Rovio last weekend updated the Seasons game with 25 appropriately-themed winter holiday levels. As was the case with a similar update last holiday, each subsequent level becomes available every 24 hours, which is reliant on an internet connection as the game needs to talk to the Rovio cloud to unlock new content on a daily basis. If you do the math, the 25th level is scheduled for unlocking on the big day of December 25.

The winter-style environment features aurora borealis and includes three secret levels, a new slip and slide ice element and the usual amount of bird flinging and pigs popping. You'll also need to watch out for a special Harbin level, created in honor of the upcoming Angry Birds area in the Ice and Snow World in Harbin, China...

Users report major issues with latest Apple TV update
