iOS 7.1.2 coming soon with fixes for Mail, Lock Screen and iBeacon issues

Apple is preparing to release iOS 7.1.2 in the coming weeks, according to a new report from MacRumors. Citing sources familiar with the update, the site says Apple plans to use the release to address a handful of long-standing issues.

Perhaps the most prominent issue the firmware will resolve is the 'email attachment encryption bug' that surfaced last month. It also includes a fix the just-publicized Lock screen vulnerability, which could allow access to limited apps...

Apple rolls out new design for its Support Communities website

Following a report yesterday regarding incoming improvements to the AppleCare program and its customer support tools, Apple has rolled out an update to its Support Communities website that includes a fresh new design.

The new look is cleaner and more streamlined than its predecessor, which makes for easier navigation, and it extends throughout the portal. It even reaches the forums, where users congregate to resolve various problems...

Apple seeds OS X 10.9.4 build 13E19 to developers

Apple has seeded the third beta of OS X 10.9.4 to registered Mac developers this afternoon. The update comes almost a month after Apple released OS X 10.9.3 to the public, which included improved 4K display support and more.

Today’s new 10.9.4 build is available to developers via an update in the Mac App Store or as a download on Apple’s online developer center. It does not, however, appear to be out in Apple’s new public Mavericks Beta Seed program yet…

Rhapsody updated with TrackMatch and support for T-Mobile’s new unRadio service

Rhapsody has updated its iOS client, bringing the app to version 3.1. The update brings about a few new features and improvements, but more importantly it adds support for the new unRadio service—Rhapsody's joint venture with T-Mobile announced last night.

Among the new features is a song identification tool called TrackMatch, which allows users to identify and tag songs that are currently playing with a single tap. Rhapsody has also added Live Radio, enabling users to listen to live radio stations from around the world...

Waze updated with new UI, enhanced sharing features and more

Fans and users of the popular Waze GPS app will be happy to hear that the mapping client received a significant update today. The release brings about several changes, including various redesigned UI elements and a handful of useful new features.

The new UI covers the ETA screen, which now lets users easily share their drive with friends and family, and also adds a new icon in the ETA tab that shows the number of users tracking your trip. We have a full breakdown of the new features below...

Tweetbot 3 for iPhone updated with support for viewing/posting multiple images

The Tapbots have updated their popular Tweetbot 3 app for iPhone this morning. The update brings the Twitter client to version 3.4, and brings about a handful of new features, including support for multiple image viewing/posting, and more.

Users can now view and post multiple images from within Tweetbot 3, although Tapbots cautions that multiple images won't show up in search or streaming timelines until Twitter enables support. We have the full change log after the break...

Facebook Messenger updated with Instant Video Sending and Big Likes

Facebook has posted an update for its iOS Messenger client this morning, bringing the app to version 6.0. The release includes the usual bug fixes and improvements, as well as two new features in 'Instant Video Sending' and 'Big Likes.'

Both new features are exactly what they sound like. Instant Video Sending allows users to shoot and play 15-second video messages from the camera, right in the app, and a Big Like is essentially a larger thumbs up for things you really like...

Cydia updated with iOS 7 icon and redesigned interface

Cydia has received a major update this morning with several improvements. First and foremost, the app has received a long-awaited iOS 7 icon thanks to graphic designer Surenix. The package manager for jailbroken devices also gains a redesigned and better organized user interface, making it easier to manage repositories, see which packages you have installed and more. Flickr app updated with new sharing and tagging options

Yahoo's Flickr has updated its iOS client this morning, bringing the app to version 3.1. The update brings about a handful of useful additions, including new options for sharing, tagging and describing your photo albums.

As for the new sharing options, users can now send their albums to Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter, as well as Mail and SMS. They can also now add and edit both tags and descriptions for their photos from within the app...

Popular RSS client Reeder 2 now available in the Mac App Store

After extensive beta testing, popular RSS client Reeder 2 has landed in the Mac App Store. This is the app's first update on the Mac since Google shutdown its Google Reader service last year, which essentially broke most RSS clients.

As with the iOS version, Reeder 2 for Mac adds support for a number of RSS services that have tried to fill the gap left by Google, such as Feedbin and Feedly. And it also now serves as a standalone RSS client, so no syncing is required...

Adobe Revel now offers 2GB of free photo storage

Adobe updated its Revel client for iOS today, bringing the app to version 2.3. The update brings about a few design tweaks, which make the app easier to use, and a handful of bug fixes, but the big news here is the bump in free storage.

Free accounts for Adobe's cloud-based Revel service now get 2GB of storage space, or enough for around 1000 photos. That's quite the change from the previous model, where non-paying Revel users were limited to just 50 uploads/month...
