Apple releases iTunes 11.4 with support for iOS 8 syncing

Apple this afternoon released iTunes 11.4 for Mac OS X users. The update is small in size, but significant in terms of functionality, as it brings about support for syncing music, movies and other iTunes content to iOS devices that have upgraded to iOS 8.

The news follows the seeding of iOS 8 GM to developers earlier today, which will be the software's final release before it goes public later this month. That update was also fairly minor, offering up just a handful of tweaks for icons and other UI elements.

Apple launches redesigned website, kills off iPod Classic

Following all of its major product announcements this morning, Apple launched a redesigned version of its website. Apple.com now features flatter UI elements and large crisp images, bringing its design language more in line with that of iOS and the upcoming OS X Yosemite.

You might be happy to know that the update also brings about an all-new mobile interface. Previously, Apple's website showed a full desktop view on mobile devices, making it a bit difficult to navigate for some, but it is now formatted to look great on your iPhone and iPad.

Infinity Blade III ‘Kingdom Come’ update is out with new maps, enemies and more

The highly anticipated Infinity Blade III 'Kingdom Come' update is now available in the App Store. This is not only the final content update for the popular game, but ChAIR says that it includes everything needed to bring the entire Infinity Blade trilogy to an end.

Among the additions in today's release are 6 new treasure maps, 5 new enemies to battle, and over 25 new items for both Isa and Siris to collect and sell. It also features new goals and achievements, and unlock-ability for Master Items has been raised to level 100.

New Snapchat update allows you to follow live events via Stories

Snapchat pushed out an interesting update for its mobile apps today, bringing the iOS client to version 7.0.6. Though the change log in the App Store only mentions 'improvements and bug fixes,' what went on behind the scenes is actually fairly significant.

Users will notice a new 'Live' section in the app, courtesy of Our Stories, a product Snapchat introduced during the summer that lets anyone contribute snaps to a single story. With Live, users will be able to follow events as they unfold, from various angles.

CloudApp for Mac updated with quick screen recording, Google App support

The folks behind CloudApp released a big update for the service on Thursday, making it easier for users and companies to quickly share links, photo, texts and more from a Mac. The update is being labeled version 3.0, and brings CloudApp Motion, CloudApp for Teams, updated Pro plans, Google Apps support, and an embedded video and audio player into the mix. 

You can now send money via text message for free with Square Cash

Square has released a big update for its Cash app this afternoon, bringing it to version 2.0. The app, first released in October of last year, facilitates the quick transfer of money from one user to another via e-mail, and today's update makes the process even faster.

The UI for sending and contact screens has been optimized in Square Cash 2.0, making it easier to send money, and you can also now add notes to your payments. But perhaps the biggest addition in today's update is the ability to send cash to anyone via text message.

Pangu 7.1.x untether package released on Cydia, causes issues for some users [update]

An update for the Pangu 7.1 - 7.1.x untether jailbreak is available now on Cydia. Version 0.3, available to those who jailbroke their iOS device using Pangu, comes under the form of a package update in the Cydia/Telesphoreo repo, one of Cydia's default repos. According to the description, version 0.3 adds small improvements to the untether jailbreak. More specifically, it fixes sandboxing issues.

All users who see this update available in Cydia are prompted to update the package, regardless of what device or what iOS version they are currently running, but a few reports from users who have updated Pangu to version 0.3 can be cause for concerns.

WatchESPN Apple TV channel gains SEC and Longhorn Network programming

College football fans will be happy to hear that WatchESPN has expanded its NCAA coverage on Apple TV. The sports-focused streaming video channel now features programming from the SEC Network and The Longhorn Network.

The SEC Network is a joint venture between the Southeastern Conference and ESPN, and it will cover over 1000 live sporting events per year. And of course, The Longhorn Network is centered around the University of Texas athletics...

Vine finally lets you upload clips from your Camera roll

Vine has announced a significant update for its iOS client today, which will add a number of new features to the popular video-sharing app. The release includes a wide range of new editing  tools, as well as the long-requested ability to upload clips from your device's Camera Roll.

A majority of today's changes fall within the app's new camera section, which aims to make it faster and easier to get your Vines just the way you want them. And with new Preview and Undo buttons, you can quickly screen your last clip, and decide whether you want to keep it or not...

‘NFL Now’ lands on Apple TV with news and highlights

As expected, the National Football League launched the Apple TV client for its new 'NFL Now' service this morning. The service went live earlier this month on mobile and various streaming devices, and today it comes to Apple's set top box.

While the NFL Now channel won't deliver streams of live games (see NFL Sunday Ticket for that), it will provide a plethora of content for football fans. That content includes classic and recent highlights, breaking news, press events and more...

Parallels Desktop 10 is out with OS X Yosemite support, better battery life, and more

Parallels this morning announced the launch of Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac, the highly anticipated update for its popular virtual environment software. The new version is available now as an upgrade for existing users, and will launch on August 26th for new customers.

For those unfamiliar with it, Parallels Desktop makes it extremely easy to install and run alternate operating systems on your Mac such as Windows or Linux. And today's update adds in [experimental] support for OS X Yosemite, better battery life, and other improvements...

Vimeo app updated with new uploading, private sharing options

Vimeo users will be happy to hear that the video site has rolled out a new build of its iOS client. The update brings the app to version 4.2, and it brings about new video upload and private sharing options, as well as new find and follow features.

With Vimeo 4.2 on iPhone and iPad, you can now upload videos from your device’s Camera Roll, straight to Vimeo from within the app. You can also now share videos with people you follow on Vimeo privately, so they won’t show up in your feed…
