AT&T Activates One Million iPhone 4S Devices

The iPhone 4S has been a tremendous success for all three of the US carriers that currently sell the handset. But it seems that AT&T is getting a little more success compared to Apple's other two iPhone 4S partners.

AT&T today announced that it has activated more than one million iPhone 4S devices as of Tuesday, making the iPhone 4S launch the most successful launch in the carrier's history...

iPhone 4S On Track to Becoming the Fastest Selling Consumer Device Ever

Even though it was initially met with some criticism, Apple's newest handset hasn't had any problems flying off the shelf. Yesterday morning, the Cupertino company reported that it sold a staggering 4 million iPhone 4S units during opening weekend.

Not only did the three day sell-a-thon set a company best for Apple in handset sales, it also helped US-based carriers like Sprint and AT&T set single-day sales records. And it looks like the smartphone's unprecedented run is only just beginning...

Apple Announces Record-Breaking 4 Million iPhone 4S Sales for Opening Weekend

Today Apple announced that first weekend iPhone 4S sales topped 4 million. After selling 1 million units on day one, sales reached over 4 million worldwide at the end of the weekend.

The iPhone 4S has sold twice as many units as the iPhone 4. Apple reported 1.7 million iPhone 4 sales for launch weekend last year.

Separately, 25 million users are using iOS 5 already. 20 million users have also signed up for iCloud.

AT&T and Sprint Report iPhone 4S Success

The iPhone 4S officially went on sale in the US yesterday, and unsurprisingly, it has provided record-setting sales for at least two of the three major U.S carriers that offer the device.

AT&T on Friday confirmed to BGR in an email that it has activated a record number of iPhones and is on track to double its previous record of activations in a single day.

Sprint, which didn’t start carrying the iPhone until this month, reported its best ever day of sales in retail, web, and telesales for a device family in Sprint history, thanks to the launch of the new iPhone 4S and iPhone 4...

iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Sell Out on All US Carriers

iPhone 4S pre-orders on all three U.S. carriers have sold out. Apple recently announced that it had sold a record-breaking 1 million iPhone 4S units over launch weekend, with AT&T accounting for 200,000 of those orders.

After the first day of pre-order availability, shipping estimates fell worldwide to 1-2 weeks. Those that were fortunate to pre-order before stock ran out will have the iPhone 4S delivered tomorrow.

Status Update on iPhone 4S Availability

Early yesterday morning, Apple and its carrier partners around the world started taking preorders for the iPhone 4S. The Cupertino company unveiled the smartphone last week to mixed reactions from pundits and fans.

But the fact that Apple didn't change the handset's outward appearance doesn't seem to have derailed customers from snatching up the device. The iPhone 4S appears to be selling as fast, if not faster, than its predecessors...

Shazam Enables Unlimited Song Tagging in Free App

For those of you who aren't familiar with Shazam, it's a music identification service that can tell you song information just by hearing a sample of the music. The service has followed the smartphone's rise to popularity with multiple successful mobile apps.

In fact, Shazam was the first song I.D. app I downloaded when Apple launched the App Store in 2008. It worked great and even more importantly, it was free. You could tag as many songs as you wanted and it didn't cost a dime. But then things changed...

Apple Owns 68% of Worldwide Tablet Shipments

IDC have been at the old researching game again, and this time they've decided that Apple's iPad accounts for a massive 68% of worldwide tablet shipments, which we have to admit, isn't to be sniffed at!

The results are for the second quarter of 2011, which means it is worth remembering that the recent influx of Android-powered tablets will no doubt have altered that landscape slightly...

Refurbished iPad 2 Models now Available at Apple.com

It seems the trend of discounted tablets isn't over yet. Word on the street is that HP is gearing up for another production run of its TouchPad slate, and even Amazon sounds like it wants to get in on the action.

But if the obsolete tablet or the rumored beefed-up Kindle haven't peaked your interest, you might be happy to hear that Apple's online store is now offering refurbished iPad 2s at a decent discount...
