Sprint to Cap Unlimited Tethering Plan Ahead of iPhone 5 Launch

It was only five days ago that I predicted Sprint would have to put an end to its unlimited data plan, and it seems that I was right. Following Verizon and AT&T's lead, a leaked internal document reveals that Sprint will start capping their unlimited tethering data plan to 5GB/month, starting October 2nd.

In views of all the recent hints that Sprint will get the iPhone, this move was most likely made to prevent future iPhone users from going over the top with data while using their device as a mobile hotspot...

Analyst Claims We Will Only See One iPhone this Fall

Going against The New York Times and nearly every other rumor we've heard in the last few months, Wedge Partners told investors today that there is only one iPhone coming this Fall.

Like the rest of us, analyst Brian Blair believes that Apple will hold a special event between September 28 and October 5 to unveil several new products to the world. Except he thinks that only one of those products will be an iPhone...

Sprint Drops Another Hint About Getting the iPhone

Rumors have been going wild lately about Sprint getting the iPhone sometime next month. From installing signal repeaters around Apple Stores, to saying its network is ready for iPhone traffic, it almost seems inevitable at this point that the company will indeed get the iPhone.

Today, at an investors conference, Sprint Chief Executive Dan Hesse said that in order to reach their financial targets for the fiscal year, the company would need to get "a very strong fourth quarter"...

Al Gore Confirms October Launch for iPhone 5

The man that invented the internet (not really) has spoken on the iPhone 5's availability next month. Al Gore is an influential member of Apple's board, and he confirmed the iPhone 5 for an October launch at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit today.

We heard earlier this morning that Apple is planning an October 4th event, and Al Gore has said that "the new iPhone will be out next month." Need there be any more confirmation?

This morning, AllThingsD's John Paczkowski reported that Apple was set to unveil the iPhone 5 on October 4th. Paczkowski has a long history of breaking Apple news. Some even believe that Apple feeds him breaking stories from time to time. I guess my point here is that we can trust the guy.

Now that we're pretty sure that the iPhone 5 will be showed to the world on October 4th, the question on everybody's mind now is this: "When will we be able to purchase the iPhone 5?"

AllThingsD is reporting that Apple has scheduled its next media event for Tuesday, October 4th. Reportedly, new CEO Tim Cook will be the star of the show, and Apple will unveil the "next iteration" of the iPhone.

Rumors have been circulating that Apple would announce the next gen iPhone in late-September with an early-October release, but that appears to not be the case. AllThingsD was the source that originally started the October date rumor for the iPhone 5, and now the publication is backing up its claim with a specific date...

T-Mobile: We’re Not Getting the iPhone 5 This Year

A leaked internal document from T-Mobile says that the carrier will not offer the iPhone 5 on its network this year. Previous rumors have suggested that Apple would open up iPhone availability on all US carriers with the iPhone 5 launch this Fall, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

An interesting image surfaced on Weibo recently, and it has been making its way around the tech blogs this morning. The photo seems to depict the guts of an Apple product, as you can see the company's logo next to the A5 branding.

A lot of folks believe that the innards belong to the iPhone 5, but we're not so sure. As most of you know, we're expecting both a redesigned handset and a retooled iPhone 4 from Apple this Fall. And we think these parts belong to the latter...

Did a Samsung Executive Just Confirm NFC for the iPhone 5?

In the interesting Korea Times article we mentioned earlier today, a Samsung executive was quoted in saying that the company was looking to ban all iPhone 5 sales in Korea once the new device launched.

He claimed that Samsung was going to take Apple to court over its violation of the company's patents related to wireless technology. But thankfully, the senior level executive didn't stop there with the information...
