Rumor: More Claimed iPad 3 Parts Shown, Possible New Internals

More supposed iPad 3 parts have surfaced that appear to show differences between existing iPad 2 hardware and an unknown device. Published by Macotakara, the new photos show an existing iPad 2 dock connector cable alongside the new part, which it is speculated belongs to Apple's third generation iPad.

Just as any sane person would predict, Apple appears to be sticking to its classic 30-pin dock connector as a source of power and a way of syncing, rather than moving to the industry standard USB solution that is preferred by much of the competition...

Rumor: A Photo of iPad 3 Retina Display?

If there is one thing that is guaranteed every year, it's that MacRumors will get its hands on some photos of what appear to be parts from a new iPhone or iPad. This year is proving to be no different, with the latest part to show up supposedly being an iPad 3 screen, complete with Retina display pixel density.

Unfortunately, the screen is not attached to anything, and thus not functioning, which is a shame.

While the screen was not powered up, that does not mean there isn't at least one portion of the photo that should get the pulse racing – the screen pictured possess three, count 'em, three ribbon cables. Exciting...

Rumor: Apple to Use IGZO Displays in Upcoming iPad

There's been no shortage of iPad 3 chatter over the last few weeks. We've heard Apple's upcoming tablet could feature anything from a 7-inch display to 20-hour battery life, and seemingly everything in between.

The latest report, however, is particularly interesting. It claims that the next-generation iPad will sport an advanced, high-resolution IGZO display (indium gallium zinc oxide).

At iDB, we don't just pass along the Apple rumors; we also try to follow them on their road to either truth or debunking. And in the case of the recent Digitimes' iPad 3 report, that journey took less than 24 hours.

Yesterday we told you about Digitimes' latest claim that Apple would unveil two new iPad models at the Macworld (now iWorld) conference in January. But today, Jim Dalrymple of The Loop has effectively put that rumor to bed.

An interesting rumor from overseas publication Digitimes this evening claims knowledge of Apple's iPad plans for 2012. The sometimes-accurate publication reports that Apple is planning to unveil two iPad models at once next year during the Macworld|iWorld conference in January.

Apple allegedly has two iPads for the low-end and high-end consumer markets, with the latter model boasting double the battery life of the iPad 2. This isn't the first time we've heard such claims, but this new report seems questionable.

Citing its all-too-familiar supply chain sources, DigiTimes is reporting that it has learned several new details about the upcoming TV set. Among those details are initial screen sizes, and even a timeframe for its release...

Rumor: Aluminum iPhone 5 Coming in Fall of 2012

BGR is reporting from a "close source" that Apple has plans to introduce a completely redesigned iPhone 5 in the fall of 2012. The next-generation smartphone will supposedly feature an aluminum casing, much like the iPad 2.

While BGR has gotten iPhone rumors incredibly wrong in the past, the prospect of a redesigned iPhone 5 for 2012 makes sense...

More Evidence Points to February iPad 3 Launch

We've been hearing rumors over the past few weeks that Apple is looking to launch its next-generation tablet in February of next year. The most recent chatter even points to a specific date — February 24 (Steve Jobs' birthday).

A February iPad 3 release is certainly feasible. The original iPad launched in April of 2010, and the iPad 2 debuted in March 2011. We've just uncovered more evidence that lends weight to the theory that the next iPad is coming in two months...

You're going to have to take this one with a huge grain of salt as it comes straight from unreliable sources. According to Focus Taiwan, via 9to5Mac:

A local Chinese-language newspaper reported Friday that iPad3 might be launched on Feb. 24 to mark the anniversary of the birth of Apple's late co-founder Steve Jobs.

While the rumor of the launch date itself doesn't sound completely out of this world, the source is unknown and probably not worthy of trust.

Don’t Expect a 7-inch iPad in 2012

With the success of Amazon's Kindle Fire, 7-inch tablets have become all the rage these days. Rumors and analysts have suggested over the last few months that Apple is looking to introduce its own 7-inch iPad in 2012 to compete with the new tablets on the market.

While there seems to be supply chain evidence that Apple is gathering 7.85-inch displays for its next-generation iPad, a new report says that Apple has no plans to introduce such a tablet in 2012. Instead, the iPad 2 is expected to remain available at a reduced price when the iPad 3 is announced.

Analyst’s Crystal Ball Says Redesigned iPhone and All New iPad Lineup to Come in 2012

Apple is not going to rest on its laurels next year and will drive sales by introducing new, redesigned iPhone 5 alongside a whole new lineup of iPads, according to Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster.

While simultaneously telling everybody something they already knew as well as attempting to look into his crystal ball, Munster claimed today that because Apple did not redesign any of its products in 2011 — the iPhone 4S is an iteration of the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2 offers only cosmetic changes and faster internals — the company absolutely must make complete redesigns next year.

Munster also believes that Apple may decide to do away with its current offering of just one iPad in favor of a new lineup which could include new high and low-end devices to help give customers more choice...

The New York Times has revealed some of Apple's internal plans for wearable computing. The company is working on a Siri-controlled experience that interfaces with the iPhone. Apple employees have reportedly already started testing such devices.
