Leaked iPad 3 Details Show Quad-Core Processor and LTE Capability

With presumably a couple months or so until the iPad 3 hits the shelves, I think we are way overdue for some good old rumors about Apple's upcoming tablet.

Today's rumor is brought to you courtesy of BGR, who apparently got their hands on some images from a source claiming to be in possession of an iPad 3. If I haven't lost you yet, then keep on reading because there seems to be some good sense to all this...

Rumor: Apple Shopping for TV Displays from Major Component Suppliers

Even with an iPad 3 launch almost certainly on the horizon, much of the tech world's interest still seems to be in Apple's mysterious TV set. According to the rumor mill, the iPhone-makers are expected to enter the television space at some point in the next two years.

And there's nobody pulling for that to happen more than Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. Munster has been the source of several "iTV" rumors over the past couple of months, and now he's back with more gossip...

Apple Working on Wireless Mobile Payment System

In the months leading up to Apple's Fall iPhone announcement last year, we heard dozens of rumors that never materialized. Obviously the big one was that the handset was going to feature a major hardware redesign, but there were others.

NFC (Near Field Communications) compatibility is another rumor that never panned out. The iPhone 4S launched without any sign of NFC chipsets. But that doesn't mean that the next iPhone won't feature the technology...

More Evidence That Microsoft is Bringing Xbox LIVE Games to iOS

A few weeks ago we told you about an interesting job listing that hinted that Microsoft was looking to bring its Xbox LIVE gaming portal to iOS. The listing called for a developer to help the company port its LIVE gaming client to Apple's platform.

Microsoft kickstarted the project back in December of last year when it introduced an official Xbox LIVE application for the iPhone. But according to a recent Forbes report, that was only the beginning...

Crazy Rumor: Apple Television Launch Just a Few Months Away

There's rumors, and then there's crazy rumors. And this one definitely falls in the latter category. The folks over at TechnoBuffalo are reporting that Apple's TV set is much closer to launch than we previously thought.

Citing a "high-ranking source with a major electronics retailer," the site is claiming that the Cupertino company is looking to debut its rumored television set as early as April of this year...

Foxconn Employee: iPhone 5 is Ready for Production

Rumors are part and parcel of an Apple device, but 9to5Mac just dropped something of a bombshell, with the news that a Foxconn employee has apparently told them that the iPhone 5 – or whatever it ends up being called – is ready for final production, leaving a summer launch a possibility.

Rumors of just what the iPhone 5 will be have been around for quite some time now, but this latest round comes with added weight, assuming this supposed Foxconn employee's information is accurate.

The source also shared some other interesting information, including the size of the screen and other structural tidbits that could alter the smartphone landscape considerably...

Apple Has Spent More Than 100 Million Dollars on Android War

By now, most of you have heard Steve Jobs' infamous "war on Android" quote from his recently-released biography. It goes something like, "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."

He wasn't kidding. The latest estimates suggest that Apple's litigation fees its incurred in its ongoing legal battles with Android manufacturers add up to more than $100 million dollars. And the war is far from over...

Rumor: More Claims of a 4-inch Screen for the iPhone 5

Rumors are very much part of the Apple culture, and nothing garners more speculation than the iPhone. We're only a few months into the life cycle of the iPhone 4S, but we are already in the realms of both the sublime and the ridiculous when it comes to rumors for what will become of the iPhone 5.

The biggest rumor that just will not die is one that suggests the next generation iPhone will come with a new, larger screen. With a 4-inch part being rumored strongly, a new analyst has joined the discussion, although they are apparently unwilling to share who their sources are.

Pinch of salt in hand with this one then...

Case Makers Already Churning Out iPad 3 Covers

Although we've heard conflicting rumors over the last few months regarding Apple's next tablet, a majority of them seem to agree on one thing: appearance. The consensus is that the iPad 3 will look extremely similar to its predecessor, albeit a bit thicker.

Case manufacturers even seem to be fairly confident in the gossip, as they're already starting to churn out iPad 3 covers that fall in line with the chatter. But if the rumor mill has taught us anything in the past, it's that the case manufacturers don't always get it right...

Rumor: iPad 3 to Debut in February, Launch in Early March

According to sources for Macotakara, Apple will unveil the iPad 3 in early February. The Japanese blog, which has a hit-and-miss track record, adds that the third iteration of the iPad will launch a month later, in early March.

These claims reiterate an earlier report from Bloomberg, which also suspects that the iPad 3 will debut in February in time for a March launch...

Expect “GarageBand for eBooks” From Apple’s Event This Thursday

Last week, Apple sent out invitations for a New York-based media event set to take place on January 19th. They read: "Join us for an education announcement in the Big Apple." But what could Apple be announcing?

As The Wall Street Journal points out, the iPad was originally pitched as a device that would transform the classroom experience — a promise that has yet to materialize. But that could change this Thursday...

Rumor: Bloomberg Says Next iPad Will be LTE-Capable

We've heard an assortment of rumors over the last month or so regarding Apple's upcoming tablet release. A majority of them seem to agree that a new iPad will debut sometime between late February and early March of this year.

As far as features go, however, the gossip has been all over the place. 7" screen, 10" screen, Siri, quad-core processor — we've heard it all. And now Bloomberg has entered the mix, claiming that Apple's next tablet will be LTE-capable...
