Leaked Panel Lends Credence to Larger Screen and Thinner Bezel For iPhone 5

Ladies and gentlemen, it seems that's it's very likely that the iPhone 5 will be bigger, faster, stronger.

Right on the heels of rumors that the iPhone 5 will feature a bigger screen, what appears to be the digitizer for Apple's next generation phone has leaked into the wild.

The leaked part showcases what is obviously a slimmed down bezel that would allow for increased screen size. Earlier rumors suggested that the screen size would increase by half-an-inch to 4 inches, and this new leaked part certainly lends evidence to that...

Apple’s New Thunderbolt Technology Could Eventually Come to the iPhone

Apple recently introduced a new connection technology dubbed "Thunderbolt." In Apple's MacBook Pro refresh, the Thunderbolt port has been added as a new wired connection architecture that Apple hopes will unify its connection technologies.

The key feature for the Thunderbolt architecture is speed. Thunderbolt promises to be lighting fast (pardon the pun) and offer incredible speeds for data transfers. The need for Thunderbolt is evident for the desktop, but it's not a stretch to imagine that Thunderbolt could eventually make its way to iOS devices.

Apple iPad Event to Take Place on March 2nd

Apple will be holding a press event next week at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Fransisco. The event is supposed to be focused on the iPad 2.

There have been reports that Apple's iPad announcement would be delayed, but multiple sources (including Apple) have recently confirmed that Apple will in fact hold an event next Wednesday.

Not much information has been leaked about the approaching Apple event besides specs for the next version of the iPad. Apple might update iOS as well, but there is no hard evidence to support that claim.

The iPhone 5 Rumor Roundup

Rumors regarding the next iteration of the iPhone have been flying left and right. If you've been following the rumor mill, you know that there's a lot of potential innovations to be implemented into Apple's next iPhone.

Will Apple release several different iPhone models at once? Will the next iPhone be considerably smaller than its predecessors? Will Apple release the iPhone 5 on all carriers with a universal baseband?

These, among others, are all questions being asked about the next iPhone. Let's examine the rumors and try and make sense of it all...

Wanna See What a 4-Inch Display Would Look Like on an iPhone 5?

Earlier today we reported there were rumors going around the web claiming that the iPhone 5 might come with a 4-inch screen, increasing from the current 3.5-inch display. When I first read about that, I really wondered what it could look like. Then the fine folks at 9to5Mac came up with a mockup of a 4-inch display applied to the iPhone 4 hardware.

The result as you can see is not very pretty. The screen goes all the way to the edge and the size of the home button has to be reduced to fit. Following rumors from last month, Apple could even go as far as removing the home button altogether...

iPhone 5 to Feature 4-inch Display?

Just when you thought there were enough iPhone 5 rumors for the day, another rumor drops. The latest rumor comes courtesy of Digitimes.

According to Digitimes, Apple's next generation iPhone 5 will sport a 4-inch display, increasing from the current 3.5-inch display. Digitimes claims that the change comes to better compete with current Google Android handsets from HTC, Samsung, and Motorola...

An iPhone 5 with a Slideout Keyboard?

tw.Apple.pro, a Taiwanese website that has a pretty good track record of publishing leaked information about Apple products, claims today that Cupertino has been evaluating 3 different hardware prototypes of the iPhone 5, one of them including a slideout keyboard.

A second prototype apparently would be what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G: a similar-looking but improved model. This version of the iPhone 5 would be the same as the iPhone 4, but would have a bigger battery and an improved camera lens...

iPhone 5 Launch Scheduled for “Summer At The Earliest”

Rumors about the iPhone 5 and iOS 4.3 have been running rampant lately. While a lot of "leaks" and speculation has been made about Apple's major upcoming version of iOS, not much has been said about the iPhone 5's hardware. All we've heard is a report from Engadget that the iPhone 5 will be a "total redesign" of the current version.

The mysterious device is rumored to have Apple's new A5 CPU processor, a universal baseband for all carriers, and a larger display with no home button. No specific launch date has been set, and apparently only the head honchos at Apple have access to iPhone 5 prototypes.

The iPhone 5 was rumored to have hit the testing stage back in October of 2010, so it's not a stretch to say that field testing units are in circulation at Cupertino. Apple has yet to divulge any direct information about the iPhone 5, but a new report claims that we won't be seeing a product launch before summer. That is, unless one gets left in a bar again...

Internally Leaked Screenshots Confirming Multitouch Gestures in iOS 4.3

It looks as though the iPad won't be the only one to get the new multitouch gestures unearthed in the iOS 4.3 beta. Boy Genius has released some iPhone screenshots that are claimed to come from internal testing at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino.

We recently reported on the rumor that the next major version of the iPhone would have no home button. Instead, it was supposed that iOS would use multitouch gestures (two, three, four fingers, etc.) to replace the functionality of the home button.

This new report seems to support the theory of no home button on the iPhone 5. Apparently, Apple has been testing multitouch gestures on the iPhone (there is nothing to clarify if the screenshots are associated with new hardware) internally for quite some time...

Now that we're done with our round of Verizon iPhone rumors, it's time for the interweb to come up with a whole new set of speculations, leaks, and unverified information about a new device: the iPhone 5.

That's Engadget who started this new rumor mill by citing multiple sources (anonymous, of course) who claim to have details about the iPhone 5, set to launch sometimes this summer...
