35 Years of Apple’s Consumer Electronics [Infographic]

With Apple expected to unveil a new iPhone (or iPhones) this Fall, the rumor mill is on a rampage. It seems like everyday we hear contradicting information from people with "inside sources," offering tidbits about Apple's plans for the next few months.

If you'll notice, there isn't another company that garners this kind of attention. Why is that? It's because over the last 30 years, Apple has been capturing the imagination of consumers with its wide range of consumer electronics...

Apple Finally Has iPad 2 Shipments Under Control

It seems like a long time ago since This is my next reported on the possibility of an iPad HD this year. 3rd-generation Apple tablet rumors have been running rampant. The next-gen iPad is expected to sport a screen with double the resolution of its predecessor, and debut sometime this fall.

Though the gossip is getting stronger, you can't help but be skeptical, as Apple's never released products in 6-8 month increments. Not only that, but how can they expect to ship a new tablet when they can barely make enough of the previous version to go around?

iDJ Live: Give Your iDevice Some Real 1s and 2s

The sharp and responsive screen found on Apple's iDevices make them a hotbed for DJ applications. Since the App Store's inception, we've seen several DJ'ing applications that try and capture the addicting music-mixing art.

One of our all time favorites is djay by algoriddim. Its easy to use interface and unique AUTOMIX feature make for a solid DJ app. Obviously, touchscreens have limitations that make it difficult to do any serious record spinning, but iDJ Live might have a solution for us..

iPad 2 Now Shipping from Apple in 3-5 Business Days

Since the iPad 2's launch in March, Apple has been facing extreme supply shortages from its manufacturers overseas. The iPad 2 has been flying off the shelves faster than the production line can handle, and part of this problem is due to the recent earthquake disaster in Japan.

For the past couple months, shipping dates for the iPad 2 on Apple's online store were set at 1-2 weeks. Despite the iPad 2's continual high consumer demand, Apple has managed to start shipping the sensational tablet in the normal 3-5 business day timeframe...

Former Flextronics Executive Pleads Guilty to iPad and iPhone Leaks

Ah, the illustrious Apple rumor mill. It seems like every time the Cupertino company is expected to (even when they're not) announce a new product, the entire web is buzzing with the latest Apple gossip.

Typically, we disregard the articles with titles that begin with "analyst claims." It seems like everyone and their dog has their own "source" inside Apple's never-ending supply chain.

But every once in a while, the tipster is legitimate. Why doesn't it happen very often? Because the people that really do give away information regarding Apple's secret projects go to jail...

Expect a Thinner and Lighter iPhone this September

We've already been hearing confirmations that Apple's next iPhone will be released in Q3 of this year, specifically in September. The Wall Street Journal has now joined the fray by reporting that Apple, "has placed orders for key components used in a next-generation iPhone it is preparing to launch sometime in the third quarter, according to people familiar with the situation."

According to The WSJ, the next gen iPhone will sport an 8-megapixel camera, Qualcomm baseband chips, and boast a thinner/lighter design. Nothing was said about the GSM/CDMA world phone rumor, but it's still expected that the iPhone 5 will operate on both carrier basebands.

How Apple Stays Ahead of the Game

An interesting Quora discussion has been making its way around the web this morning. In particular, a post written by an anonymous user that does a good job explaining Apple's ability to stay on the cutting edge of technology seems to be very popular.

Steve Jobs himself said that the original iPhone was 5 years ahead of the competition. While that is a debate for zealous Android fans software-wise, most would agree it's indisputable hardware-wise. Ever wonder why it took competitors a few years to match the iPhone's touchscreen response?

Apple Drops Supply Orders for iPhone 4 in Anticipation of New Model

A report from overseas says that Apple has decreased component orders for the iPhone 4 in anticipation of the next iPhone's release in the coming months. The latest rumor claims an August announcement for Apple's next gen device, and these supply chain reports seem to corroborate that timeframe.

According to the Taiwanese-based DigiTimes, circuit board (PCB) suppliers are seeing a decrease in orders from Apple in the second business quarter. A drop in component orders usually means that a company is gearing up for production on a new product, and that product would of course be the next iPhone.

Crazy Rumor: Apple to Release iPhone 5 on September 7th?

We actually haven't heard too many new hardware rumors in the last few weeks. It seems like everyone is too busy digging through Apple's new iOS 5 software for new features to really care at the moment.

But gossip picked up again over the weekend, as International Business Times stirred up the rumor pot with further speculation on the iPhone 5's release date. The publication believes that we'll all be lining up on September 7th for the next iPhone...

Your Next iPad Will Be Made in Brazil

While Apple's iPads are currently assembled in the Foxconn factories in China, by September the devices will also be produced in Brazil. The country's Minister of Science and Technology, Aloízio Mercadante, has revealed that Foxconn's new plant in the Brazilian city of Jundiai was initially scheduled to begin production of Apple's tablet in late July, but due to "construction glitches" and a shortage of skilled workers, that date has had to be pushed back.

Foxconn now has 175 engineers set to work in the plant, who have been sent to China for training. However, the company will require over 200 to get things moving. When the factory does open its doors, Brazilians can expect the iPad to be around 40% cheaper for consumers than the model currently imported from China...

Apple Taps OmniVision to Provide 8MP Camera Sensors for iPhone 5

The time for Apple to announce a new iPhone at this year's developer's conference has come, and gone. The rumors of a delayed iPhone refresh rang true this week, as no new hardware was unveiled during the keynote.

While we're growing tired of these supply chain rumors, each bit of gossip helps to paint a picture of what Apple's next generation smartphone may look like. The most recent tidbit aligns with previous suggestions that the iPhone 5 will house a better camera...

Explosion Occurs at iPad Factory, Apple and Foxconn Comment

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like there's been an accident at Apple's manufacturing partner, Foxconn's Chengdu, China factory. At this point details aren't completely clear but it seems the explosion at the factory plant unfortunately caused sixteen injuries and two deaths.

The Chengdu plant opened up last year in an effort to increase production of Apple's iPad tablet. The explosion reportedly occurred at 7pm Chengdu time yesterday. Foxconn states that they are working with security officials to find out exactly what caused the accident. Both Apple and Foxconn have released statements regarding the explosion...
