With the introduction of the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, Apple is putting more phones into the hands of consumers that are capable of taking photos with a bokeh effect dubbed Portrait Mode. While these phones are becoming more and more common, there are still a large number of people using phones that are not equipped to take these sort of photos. Apple's YouTube channel was updated Wednesday with a new commercial in the company's “Shot on iPhone” series. Titled “A Portrait of Canada”, it features words by Humble the Poet plus videos and depth-of-field photographs made possible by iPhone 7 Plus's dual-lens camera.
The photos and videos featured in the ad were snapped by photographer Caitlin Cronenberg and Canadians in locations across the country, ranging from Toronto to the Canadian Rockies.
The ad, according to the description on Apple's Canadian website, was meant to serve as “a portrait of Canada's inclusive spirit shot on iPhone, brought to life by three Canadian artists as well as Canadians across the country.”

Apple’s latest iPhone 7 Plus ad takes place in a barbershop
A brand new television commercial for iPhone 7 Plus's dual-lens camera surfaced Monday on Apple's official YouTube channel. Titled “Barber,” the ad showcases Apple's Portrait camera mode made possible by the dual-lens system found on the back of the company's latest Plus smartphone.
Running one minute and ten seconds long, the video takes place in a barbershop and shows the device being used to take depth-of-field shots of customers having their hair done.
Physical prints are then created and displayed on the front of the store to draw in new customers until a lone line emerges outside the shop.
“In Portrait mode on iPhone 7 Plus, you don’t just look good. You look fantastic,” says the video's description. Portrait shooting mode blurs out the background and focuses on the subject in the foreground to create a DSLR-like depth-of-field effect.

FabFocus kinda brings Portrait Mode to other iPhones
Portrait Mode was on of the standout features of the iPhone 7 Plus. It intelligently uses both cameras in tandem to create a 3D image map of your subject, then in real time, applying a blurring/bokeh effect to the background of your photo. That's something would normally require a high-end DSLR with a wider aperture lens to achieve. While the result wasn't as good as a professional camera, it is a great effect with promising results. Since Portrait Mode does require the two cameras, anyone without an iPhone 7 Plus was left out of all fun. Enter FabFocus.
Tip: save space on iPhone 7 Plus by turning off depth of field photo duplicates
iOS provides a Portrait mode in the stock Camera app to owners of the dual-camera iPhone 7 Plus.
As you know, Portrait mode lets you take dramatic DSLR-like depth of field photographs where the camera automatically creates a beautifully blurred background while keeping the subject in the front sharp and in full focus.
Your iPhone 7 plus defaults to saving both the original twelve-megapixel photo and its depth of field counterpart, effectively doubling storage requirements for Portrait shots.
In this quick tutorial we're going to show you how you can easily disable photo duplicates for depth of field photos with just a few taps.
