Shopping on Amazon has never been so beautiful with Canopy for iPhone

Not sure about you, but holidays always stress me out. More Black Friday deals than I could possibly process isn't the worst part, it's hunting for great gifts that's both time-consuming and exhausting.

This is especially true when shopping on Amazon. If only someone curated the best and finest products available for purchase on the Internet's biggest catalog...

That's where Canopy jumps in. Created by CanopyCo, Inc., this nifty little iPhone application presents you with a beautifully designed list of Amazon products, neatly organized by categories and brands and curated by “a community with great taste.”

In addition to shopping by categories and brands, the free app lets you find gifts by personality type, see what’s new, trending or the most popular in the product feeds, build a personal collection of your favorite Amazon products and much more.

The Longest Journey Remastered for iOS launches globally

After soft-launching in Australia and New Zealand last month, The Longest Journey Remastered by German developer Funcom is now available in App Stores around the world. The game is based on the 1999 point-and-click classic for Windows PCs.

One of the highest rated adventures of all time, this version of The Longest Journey has been specifically remastered for tablet devices.

The premium release includes a new intro and outro by Funcom’s famed game designer Ragnar Tørnquist, a new font, touch-optimized controls and a dynamic help system.

New ‘Homescreen’ app shares your iPhone Home screen with others

Betaworks, the team behind the popular game Dots, and later versions of Digg and Instapaper, has released a new app today called #Homescreen. The goal of the app, as its name suggests, is to allow users to share screenshots of their iPhone Home screens.

This in and of itself is a rather interesting concept, as people seem to be genuinely intrigued with others' Home screens—I've caught myself on more than one occasion peering at stranger's devices—but Betaworks takes it a step further with app identification.

This app records FaceTime calls to your Mac

I use FaceTime on a daily basis and have always hated it wouldn't let me save calls to my Mac in the form of a media file. Surely Apple could have implemented such a feature if they wanted, but they didn't and I think privacy is a big part of that.

If for whatever reason you need to record FaceTime calls to a Mac, Call Recorder by Ken and Glen Aspeslagh, twin brothers from Massachusetts, has you covered.

The app creates a QuickTime movie file containing an audio track for audio-only calls and a video track for FaceTime video calls. QuickTime is an industry-standard multimedia container, meaning you can play your saved video and audio chats pretty much anywhere, convert the files to other formats in software like iMovie or Adobe After Effects, upload them to YouTube and more.

Certify your English proficiency using Duolingo Test Center for iOS

The language certification industry commands some surprisingly insane fees so how about fair language certification for all?

Your prayers have been heard: the free learning platform Duolingo on Friday released an iOS app which allows anyone to certify their English proficiency right on their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

Not only can Duolingo Test Center certify your language skills right on an iOS device, but does so at a significant lower price, too.

And because there's no need to travel long distances to examination facilities available only in select major cities, you can get certified in the comfort of your home, in under half an hour.

EA Mobile has posted a new teaser trailer for its upcoming game "Need for Speed No Limits." The game is being built by Firemonkeys, the combined teams of Firemint and IronMonkey Studios, who both have racing backgrounds.

The video features professional rally driver Ken Block, of the Hoonigan Racing Division, playing the new Need for Speed on his iPhone 6. The gameplay footage shown is fairly impressive, flaunting sharp graphics and intense gameplay.

Telltale posts first trailer of upcoming ‘Game of Thrones’ game

After dropping some details regarding its upcoming 'Game of Thrones' game last week, Telltale Games today released its first trailer. The video sets the stage for what could be Telltale's biggest releases, given how popular HBO's GOT franchise has become.

The game will tell the story of the House Forrester, a noble family from the north of Westerns, loyal to the Starks Winterfell. Players will take on the role of different members of the Forrester household, and determine their fates. Here's the new trailer.

Sega’s Football Manager Handheld 2015 hits iOS

Japanese games maker Sega on Thursday rolled out Football Manager Handheld 2015 to the App Store. Featuring improved look and feel, a brand new match engine, a Scouting Agency feature and new world rankings with dynamic league reputation, the latest installment in the award-winning Football Manager series lets smartphone and tablet gamers live out the dream of managing their favorite real-life club.

And with enhancements such as richer club stats and a Manager Achievements page to get a run-down on all trophies, awards and achievements won, Football Manager Handheld 2015 should be an insta-buy for anyone in the market for a football manager.

The iPhone and iPad download will set you back ten bucks a pop. Additional features such as challenges and an in-game editor are available through In-App Purchases.

Kingdom Rush Origins arrives to App Store

There goes my productivity: Kingdom Rush Origins for the iPhone and Kingdom Rush Origins HD for the iPad have been released in the App Store today priced at $2.99 and $4.99, respectively.

Created by Ironhide Game Studio, Kingdom Rush Origins is a prequel to both the original Kingdom Rush game and the sequel titled Kingdom Rush Frontiers.

Once again, the player will be tasked with defending mystical lands from sea serpents, Gnoll tribes, enchanted creatures and twilight elves and commanding an arsenal of “unique towers, epic heroes and mighty powers that will help you crush your foes and save the world once again.”

The game features a bunch of new levels and spells, eight new special towers, thirty new enemies, nine new heroes, more than seventy achievements, three difficulty modes and more.

New ‘Sync Solver’ app sends Fitbit data to Apple’s Health app

In October, Fitbit announced that it had no plans of integrating its activity trackers or software with Apple's Health app. This means that if you have a Fitbit Flex or other device, the data it gathers will not be shared with Health, crippling its attempt to be your fitness data dashboard.

But a new app launched this week in the App Store that aims to change this. It's called Sync Solver, and it allows Fitbit wearers to track all of the important data collected by their wearables within the Health app, without ever having to use the standalone, dedicated Fitbit application.

Gameplay video shows SimCity BuildIt in action

Following its confirmation in September that work was underway on SimCity BuildIt for iOS, the latest installment in the popular city-building franchise, Electronic Arts today shared the first gameplay trailer for the forthcoming iPhone and iPad simulation.

“Meet your citizens’ needs to keep them happy, or make questionable choices and feel your citizens’ wrath,” EA Games Mobile said.

The game features countless buildings, quality 3D graphics with a gorgeous 360-degree view of your city that you can zoom, rotate and pan around, a variety of natural disasters, unlockable buildings and much more.

Showcase iPhone 6 game Vainglory now available

Vainglory, a much anticipated multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that Apple featured during the September 2014 iPhone 6 keynote, launched unexpectedly early and is now available for download in select App Stores, developers announced Tuesday. Created by a team with a rather interesting name, Super Evil Megacorp, Vainglory for the iPhone and iPad is their first game ever but Apple was so impressed they decided to feature the game as a showcase of the graphics power provided by the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Driven by the E.V.I.L. engine, Vainglory renders action in a silky smooth sixty frames per second with as many as 1.3 million polygons in the game map. The game is powered by Metal, Apple's new low-latency graphics framework in iOS 8.

Due to Metal's requirements, Vainglory needs iOS 8.0 or later and runs on iOS devices outfitted with Apple's A7, A8 or A8X mobile processor variants found inside the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.

Both the iPhone and iPad editions of Vainglory are free in the App Store.
