I have to be honest, I didn't think we'd see a jailbreak for a long time after Apple fixed what seemed like a gazillion different security holes in iOS 8.4.1, but here we are. Just over a week after iOS 8.4.1 was released, the Pangu team showcased an iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak on an iPhone 6 at Friday's HackPwn2015 security conference.
igSpeedster is a new jailbreak tweak that's squarely aimed at social media managers with multiple Instagram accounts. But you don't need to be a social media manager to benefit from igSpeedster, as it's not uncommon for a person to have multiple Instagram accounts.
I like to keep my personal and work Instagram accounts separate, so a tweak like this is right up my alley. Yet, igSpeedster does more than just let you manage multiple accounts. It adds the ability to save images to your photo library, tap on links, copy captions, and repost photos. It really is one of the best Instagram jailbreak tweaks that I've seen thus far.
Have you ever wanted to quickly change the case of a block of text after the fact? Sure, you can always go in and change casing letter by letter, but wouldn't it be better if you could do so with minimal effort?
A new jailbreak tweak called ShiftCycle allows you to do just that. By simply highlighting text you wish to change, and tapping the Shift key, you can easily change and cycle through text casing in a matter of seconds.
In what appears to be a coincidence, the popular ModMyi repo now appears to be suffering from an outage. This comes just hours after the BigBoss repo waded through extended downtime.
When trying to refresh the ModMyi repo from the Sources tab in Cydia, it hangs and never actually refreshes. Trying to download a tweak from the repo results in a black screen with an eventual timeout—just like what happened with the BigBoss repo yesterday.
Like I said, it could be just a coincidence, but I have to admit that the timing of these two outages is a little odd. Both ModMyi and BigBoss rarely suffer from extended downtime, so it's weird to see them both suffering from similar outages back to back like this.
I've always lived by the idea that simple jailbreak tweaks make the best jailbreak tweaks, and BIM is the perfect example of that. BIM is a tweak that lends a convenient web browsing experience directly inside of the stock Messages app.
When someone sends you a link, tapping on it will open a web browser directly inside the Messages app. This means that you can check out the links sent to you quickly without needing to leave the Messages app for Safari.
If you've recently tried to install a tweak hosted on the BigBoss repo, then you've probably encountered issues doing so. It's not something wrong with your phone, or with your Internet connection. The BigBoss repo is currently down, and have been for at least 45 minutes.
I think it's safe to say that jailbreaking doesn't seem to be slowing down much, despite the just-released iOS 8.4.1. Jailbreak developers are still putting out tweaks at a blistering clip, as evident by our tweaks of the week post this weekend.

Apple is still signing iOS 8.4. That's not an anomaly, as Apple usually waits a while before it slams the door for good on older firmware. It's now been nearly a week since the exploit-killing iOS 8.4.1 was released, so time is definitely not on the side of those wishing to downgrade (or upgrade) to iOS 8.4 and enjoy a crisp new jailbreak.
We've emphasized this several times already, but now it's really serious and now it's really crunch time.
What should you do?
I've been running the iOS 9 beta on my iPhone 6 Plus and have been using the iPhone 5s as my jailbroken device for the last 2-3 weeks. My idea was to use the iPhone 5s as my jailbreak device, and keep my daily driver—my iPhone 6 Plus—jailbreak free.

Today, I got my first chance to try out Multiplexer, the highly anticipated upcoming multitasking tweak from Elijah Frederickson and Andrew Abosh, that's currently setting the jailbreak community ablaze.
Multiplexer can rightly be labeled as an "ultimate multitasking tweak", because it basically combines six multitasking-oriented jailbreak tweaks into one.
The tweak blends traditional side-by-side multitasking options along with enhanced backgrounding, and multiple desktops. But all of that is just the tip of the iceberg. Step inside as we give you the first hands-on look at Multiplexer on video.
iMods has posted a new video walkthrough of its long-in-the-works app, and it's made lots of progress. Unlike the Extensify app that we previewed last week, iMods is a true Cydia alternative that aims to provide users with a prettier UI, ratings, video previews, and more.
The video is impressive. It shows how tweaks are installed, navigating the various sections of the app, and more. Of course a video can only go so far. Trying iMods out for ourselves will be the ultimate test as to whether or not this is a viable Cydia alternative, but I have to admit that it looks good based on the video preview.
