RedSn0w Can Jailbreak iOS 4.3.5

Following the release of iOS 4.3.5 this morning, we issued our usual warning about staying away from the latest firmware so that you don't lose your jailbreak or unlock.

This warning is still in effect for those who don't want a tethered jailbreak. For the rest of you who don't mind plugging your iDevice in your computer every time you have to reboot, the word on the street is that RedSn0w can jailbreak iOS 4.3.5...

iOS 5 Beta 4 Adds Cellular and GPS Toggles to iPod Touch

Remember the rumor that Apple would introduce a 3G-equipped iPod touch at its music event this September? A recent finding in the newly-released iOS 5 Beta 4 uncovers something that all but confirms that possibility.

There's always the chance that Apple got lazy and just forgot to remove the cellular and GPS toggles in the Settings app for the iPod touch, but it's more exciting to speculate that this is a sign of things to come...

Next iPod Touch to Come in White?

Photos leaked to 9to5Mac point to Apple bringing a spot of white to its next gen iPod touch, with the 5th generation of the popular 'iPhone-lite' set to receive the same white glass as the iconic iPhone 4.

The photos, which 9to5Mac says are not yet confirmed to be either legit or, well, not so legit, show what appears to be a white iPod touch's front screen.

The part appears to be similar in design to the current 4th generation model of the iPod touch, lending credence to rumors that the next incarnation of the device will sport a design not too dissimilar from its current form....

iPod Touch 3G Concept

Over the past week or so, there have been rumors floating around about a 3G-Enabled iPod Touch coming later this fall. If this were happen, you would be able to use 3G data on your iPod Touch, for Facetime, iMessages, etc. You would also be able to use a VoIP app, such as Skype or Viber, to call people from your iPod Touch.

We took this concept to Photoshop, and we came up with the iPod Touch 3G. It looks exactly like the current iPod Touch, but has a black strip on the back. It also says "3G" in the menu bar. Along with that, it also features an integrated SIM card, as the next iPhone is rumored to have...

Apple Forced to Pay Personal Audio $8 Million Over iPod Patent

Apple is no stranger to the courtroom these days; with patents, copyright claims, and counterclaims becoming as closely related to the Cupertino outfit as its iconic iPods.

Ironically, though, it seems that those very same iPods have landed Apple in trouble this time around, with the company being forced to stump up $8 million to a company that claims the iPod infringes on its patents...

50% of iPhones Don’t Currently Get Backed Up – iOS 5 to the Rescue

Sometimes it's easy to forget that we in the geek world aren't like normal people. We spend our lives connected, and backing up our data is just one of those things we do as a matter of course. Until iOS 5 arrives in the coming months, the only way to back up an iOS iDevice is to plug it into iTunes and let it sync. But does anyone actually do it?

According to a little birdie, only 50% of the customers who take iDevices into Apple Stores for repair have their apps, settings, contacts and the like, backed up.

That's right - around half of iPhones, iPads and iPod touches don't find themselves plugged into iTunes after that initial set up - a set up that won't even need to be done after iOS 5 lands...

How to Jailbreak Your Older iPhone or iPod Touch Using Whited00r

Earlier today we did a post about Whited00r, a custom firmware built for older Apple ARM6 devices. It includes built-in tweaks and gives you the option to remove unwanted features like Spotlight to make your device faster.

Whited00r has been out for a while, but it's kind of flown under the radar. There's still millions of these older devices floating around, so we figured we'd give folks an easy walkthrough on how to install Whited00r on your older iPhone or iPod touch...

The Art of Deception, Told By the iPod Touch

Videos like this remind us how "magical" Apple's products really are. If you've haven't seen a good magic act in awhile, you'll appreciate this presentation called, "iPod Magic - Deceptions."

Marco Tempest, or "The Virtual Magician," shows off some of his handiwork with a few iPod touches. It's not your typical set of magic tricks, and the whole presentation has an interesting message as well...

Is This What the iPhone 5 Will Look Like?

A new report from This is my next reveals some interesting rumors about the iPhone 5. According to Joshua Topolsky (the former editor-in-chief of Engadget), the iPhone 5 will in fact be a significant redesign of the current iPhone 4.

Topolsky doesn't cite specific sources, but he claims that the iPhone 5 will have a design very similar to that of the fourth-generation iPod touch. Engadget originally said that the iPhone 5 would be a major evolution of the iPhone 4, and this report from This is my next corroborates that claim.

More Evidence Points to September Launch of iPhone 5

Following yesterday's report from Avian Securities regarding the release of the iPhone 5, a new report from Digital Daily seems to lend more credence to the previous rumors.

According to a Digital Daily report, Apple is planning to unveil the next-generation iPhone 5 at its annual September media event that usually focuses on the iPod.

Leaked iPod touch Image Could Potentially Paint a Picture of the iPhone’s Future

The iPod touch, with a "touch to home" feature. How obvious, when you think about it?

This new leaked photo of what is apparently an iPod touch is making waves around the Internet today due to its lack of a mechanical Home button.

Although it's a bit different than the rumors that suggested that the Home button would go away completely, a capacitive touch sensitive button is certainly one step in said direction.

Of course Android phones have been doing this for quite some time now, but it'll be interesting to see -- assuming the photo is the real deal -- if this feature will ever make it to the iPhone...
