How to Permanently Preserve Your iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak

If you've been paying attention to the jailbreak scene lately, then you've heard the warnings about preparing for Apple's next counter move against jailbreakers. The question is this: have you heeded it?

It's imperative that you update to iOS 5.0.1 now and save your SHSH blobs across all devices, including the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. That way, you can always downgrade to iOS 5.0.1 later, which means you will always have access to an untethered jailbreak.

We'll show you how to create a firmware file for your A4 devices that can always be jailbroken. We'll also tell you what to do to preserve the jailbreakability of your A5 devices as well. If you haven't done this yet, now is the time to act...

How to Stream Media From Your iPhone to Your PS3 Without Jailbreaking

Between its AirPlay feature and the Apple TV, Apple has made streaming media content from your iPhone to your TV extremely simple. But those that don't own an Apple TV will find the task a bit more complicated.

Luckily, it's not too difficult for folks with a Sony PS3 system. Last year, we showed you how to stream media from your iPhone to your PS3 using a jailbreak app. And now we're going to show you how to do it without jailbreaking.

This is What a $10,000 iPhone Case Looks Like

Are you tired of your iPhone looking like everyone else's? Are you looking for a case that not only sets your handset apart from all of the others, but also says "hey look at me, I'm filthy rich?"

If you answered yes to either of the above questions, and happen to have 10K laying around, you might be interested in Miansai's solid gold iPhone case. The company's made-to-order 14K gold cover is one of the most extravagant in the world...

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek Shows Off Voice-Controlled iOS App

It looks like Spotify CEO Daniel Ek is a self proclaimed "Siri-holic" after the streaming outfit's head man waxed lyrical about his love for Apple's digital assistant.

But that's not all. During an interview for Forbes, Ek gave a sneak peek at a potential new feature that could be on its way to the Spotify iPhone app at some point in the future. When asked about the possibility of voice activation coming to Spotify, Ek picked up his iPhone and requested a dose of Coldplay.

Naturally the handset obliged, though God only knows why Ek wanted to hear Coldplay at all. Regardless, the news that Spotify is working on voice recognition will come as a late Christmas present for fans of the streaming music service...

Verizon Sees 4.2 Million iPhone Sales For Last Quarter

Verizon has reported a record-breaking number of iPhone sold during the fourth quarter of 2011:

Verizon Wireless, the largest U.S. mobile carrier, sold 4.2 million iPhones in the fourth quarter, more than doubling from the third quarter, said Fran Shammo, finance chief of the company’s parent.

The iPhone sales will narrow gross margins at the wireless business by 500 to 600 basis points, Shammo, chief financial officer of Verizon Communications, said today at a Citigroup Inc. event in San Francisco. U.S. carriers sell smartphones such as the iPhone to subscribers at a loss to get them to sign up for contracts that typically run for two years.

Comparatively, carrier sold 2 million iPhones during the previous quarter.

Easily Share Your Wi-Fi Credentials in iOS with QuickWiFi Web App

We've all been in the position where you need to let someone onto your own Wi-Fi network, but you need to give them your password so they can enter it into their smartphone, tablet, or computer. It's a pain, and if you're password is a complex one, the whole process is just something you would rather avoid.

A new web app called QuickWiFi allows you to set up a profile and a customizable URL that will allow other users to install a profile on their iOS device that will grant them access to your Wi-Fi network. You don't need to manually enter anything, and it means that the user will never actually see your password.

It's quick and easy, not to mention secure — assuming you're happy to hand your login details over to the web app.

TinyUmbrella Updated With Support For Second iPhone 4S iOS 5.0.1 Build

TinyUmbrella has been updated with support for saving SHSH blobs on the second build of iOS 5.0.1 that Apple released weeks ago for the iPhone 4S. As you cautioned earlier today, it's important to update to the latest iOS firmware and save your SHSH blobs for the untethered jailbreak.

iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users could be getting an untethered jailbreak as soon as next week, so now is the perfect time to update iOS and save your blobs!

Potential Jailbreakers Should Update to iOS 5.0.1 Before It’s Too Late!

It's a busy and exciting time for the jailbreak community. In the last couple of weeks we've seen the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for A4-based devices go live in the form of RedSn0w, PwnageTool, and The Chronic Dev Team's Corona tool. Moments ago we announced that the security expert known as pod2g expects to drop the untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users next week.

Now is the time to update to Apple's latest firmware, iOS 5.0.1. Even if you rely on an UltraSn0w unlock, you should update as soon as possible before it's too late to get the untethered jailbreak on 5.0.1.

How to Get Unlimited Data On Your Verizon iPhone

Verizon discontinued its unlimited data plan last July, thereby joining the ranks of AT&T with tiered data offerings for smartphone users. Thankfully, a nifty trick has surfaced for getting unlimited data on Verizon, despite the CDMA carrier technically not offering its all-you-can-eat plan anymore.

While we can't verify the legitimacy of this method, many Verizon customers have reported that performing this workaround has indeed unlocked unlimited data...
