Gametel Gamepad Now Compatible With iOS Devices

Considering how popular iOS has become as a mobile gaming platform, you would think that the market for iOS gaming accessories would be huge, but it's really not. The iOS gaming peripheral space is actually quite small.

But it is slowly growing, thanks to notable accessories like the iCade, the iControlPad, and now the Gametel Gamepad. The once Android-only wireless controller is all set to make its iOS debut at the Consumer Electronics Show next week...

iPhone 4S Still Top-Seller for Sprint, Verizon and AT&T During December

December was another great month for iPhone sales, according to research by Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley and his crack team of number crunchers, with all three major US carriers seeing the new iPhone 4S top their sales charts.

Two months after its initial release on Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon, the iPhone 4S is still the best-seller for all three of the carriers that offer the handset in the United States, with two Android phones helping make up the top three, the Samsung Galaxy S II and the newer Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Less surprisingly, the top-selling tablet device in the United States was the iPad 2, with the cheaper Amazon Kindle Fire being its nearest competitor. We expect the tablet landscape to alter during 2012 however, with more Android and Windows 8 machines offering more competition for Apple's device...

iPhone Usage Dropped Almost 5% During December

Despite what is sure to be a record-breaking month for Apple's iPhone sales, it appears that the handset's usage share may have actually fallen by almost 5%, if new figures are to be believed.

Advertising network Chikita has released data based on the number of ad impressions across its network while highlighting the top smartphone makers in the arena, with the iPhone seeing a reduction in its share during December.

The big gains came from Android-loving HTC and Samsung during the same period...

Analysts Predict Apple Sold 35 Million iPhones Over the Holidays

After a disappointing [define disappointing] third quarter last year, Apple's CEO Tim Cook made one of the boldest projections in the company's history: Apple is going to sell 30 million iPhones and hit $37 billion in revenue in Q4 of 2011.

To put these numbers in perspective, Apple only sold 17 million iPhones in Q3 of last year, hitting just $28.3 billion in revenue. So you can see why some folks were taken a back by Cook's predictions. But hey, anything can happen, right?

iPhone 4S Users Consume Double the Data of iPhone 4 Users

As wireless carriers have started cracking down on data usage, users have become more conscious of their megabytes. So much so that many smartphone owners have resorted to using applications to keep track of their activity.

It looks like data-conscious users who are still contemplating snagging Apple's latest handset may have reason to worry. A new report shows that iPhone 4S owners use about double the data of that of iPhone 4 owners...

Here’s a Steve Jobs-Inspired iPhone SJ Concept

Antonio De Rosa has come up with yet another awesome iPhone concept, a handset he called the iPhone SJ because it was inspired by the late Steve Jobs.

Shown off in all its glory at De Rosa's ADR Studio website, the concept takes the existing iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S body and reinvents it, creating a gorgeous concept that even Jony Ive himself would be pleased to call his own.

While the specs are not the biggest thing here, De Rosa speculates that the concept could come packed with a dual-core A6 chip and a 10 megapixel camera. That's probably not too far from what we would expect Apple to put inside the iPhone 5...

iPhone Owners Complaining of Mysterious Mute Bug on Outbound Calls

Apple launched its latest handset, the iPhone 4S, in October of last year. And while the company seems to have corrected the infamous antenna problem, the device has still had its fair share of issues.

From its poor battery life — which is more than likely iOS 5 related — to its Sprint data speed troubles, users have had multiple complaints regarding the handset. And now it looks like we can add another problem to the list...

Patent Suggests Apple Could be Integrating Thunderbolt Into iOS Devices

Multiple patent applications by Apple were published by the US Patent and Trademark Office this morning. Three of the inventions revolve around Thunderbolt technology, and one in particular stands out: iOS device support.

Apple introduced Thunderbolt, an I/O platform that transfers data 20x faster than USB 2.0, last year in both its desktop and laptop computer lines. And now it looks like it could be bringing the tech to its popular mobile products...

TidyTilt: A Smart Cover for the iPhone

Smart Covers are awesome! If you own an iPad 2 then you just absolutely, positively must own a Smart Cover. It's a stand. It's a cover. It's smart. What's not to like?

We're not really sure why Apple hasn't made a similar accessory for the iPhone, but there is a new Kickstarter project that's proposing an iPhone-optimized Smart Cover with a unique twist.

In fact, the TidyTilt even has one or two tricks up its sleeve. Tricks that mean the project has already met its modest $10,000 goal, raising $47,000 to date.

How to Permanently Preserve Your iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak

If you've been paying attention to the jailbreak scene lately, then you've heard the warnings about preparing for Apple's next counter move against jailbreakers. The question is this: have you heeded it?

It's imperative that you update to iOS 5.0.1 now and save your SHSH blobs across all devices, including the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. That way, you can always downgrade to iOS 5.0.1 later, which means you will always have access to an untethered jailbreak.

We'll show you how to create a firmware file for your A4 devices that can always be jailbroken. We'll also tell you what to do to preserve the jailbreakability of your A5 devices as well. If you haven't done this yet, now is the time to act...
