It looks like the prospect of the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak being released during the Hack In The Box security conference is becoming more likely, as pod2g announces on twitter that the jailbreak release is mere days away.

A few days ago, pod2g said that "something big" will happen during the event regarding jailbreaking. Honestly, what can be bigger than the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak?

Get ready ladies and gentlemen, it's almost here...

This 0.25 mm case makes your iPhone waterproof

Water damage. It's a concern on the minds of nearly every major smartphone manufacturer out there, and their customers. And while companies like HZO and Liquipel are trying to change that, their technologies aren't quite there yet.

So while we wait for some of the new-aged tech to mature, there's still plenty of physical case options to choose from to make your iPhone waterproof. And if you happen to be a minimalist, you might want to check out the Case Marine...

Apple again seen testing FaceTime over 3G

While folks in the jailbreak community have been able to make FaceTime calls on cellular networks for quite some time now, others haven't been so lucky. Since it debuted in 2010, the video calling feature has remained Wi-Fi-only.

Today, however, evidence has surfaced that suggests Apple is testing a FaceTime over 3G option. The folks over at iDevice posted the above screenshot, which was taken from an error message pulled out of iOS 5.1.1...

Samsung reports nine million Galaxy S III pre-orders worldwide

Confirming its recent status of both the world's #1 smartphone and cell phone vendor, Samsung reportedly racked up over nine million pre-orders for its Galaxy S III smartphone worldwide. The figure excludes the United States, where an LTE version of the phone is slated to arrive in June.

This compares to first-weekend sales of the iPhone 4S exceeding four million units, twice as many units as the iPhone 4 which sold 1.7 million units during launch weekend.

Samsung's flagship handset got introduced on May 3, accompanied by a strong marketing push. It will first go on sale on May 29 in Germany with the 32GB model as a Vodafone exclusive for the first month. The device is already available on Amazon contract-free for $799...

Fans of the popular Sonic franchise will be happy to hear that Sega has just finished porting over another new title to iOS featuring the little blue hedgehog. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II is now available in the App Store.

Windows Phone overtakes iPhone in China, Microsoft claims

In addition to having trouble catching up to Samsung in China, Microsoft's Windows Phone platform has now managed to outsell the iPhone in the 1.33 billion people market, if a high-ranked Microsoft executive in charge of the Greater China region is to be believed.

According to his data, Windows Phone market share in China now sits at seven percent, a percentage point ahead of the six percent market share enjoyed by the iPhone.

No reason to get enraged over this metric. Apple's in it for the profits, not market share and Nokia actually has a dominant presence and world-class distribution in this hugely important market. Let's hope Tim Cook's looking into those numbers as Apple needs to double down on China...

The iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak now supports the iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS

Great news for those of you who own 3rd generation iPods and/or the iPhone 3GS — both devices have gained support for pod2g's upcoming untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1.

The reason these devices were initially excluded was because the kernel vulnerability used to accomplish the jailbreak on other devices didn't appear to work on the iPod 3G and the iPhone 3GS.

Although the hacker hasn't provided more details on how he was eventually able to verify that the jailbreak will be possible, he says he will update us with more details later.

Check inside for the updated list of devices that will be compatible for the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak...

Mockups show how apps would benefit from a 4-inch iPhone

The 4-inch iPhone. According to just about every major news publication — The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, etc. — it's coming. But where does that leave the 600,000+ apps designed for a 3.5" screen and their developers?

Well the most popular theory for how Apple will go about making a 4-inch iPhone is to give it a resolution of 640x1158, and an aspect ratio of 9:5. So Overdrive Design decided to show us what that would do to current apps...

New Infinity Blade Dungeons gameplay footage is totally eye-candy

If you own an iPad 3, Infinity Blade Dungeons is that killer game you’ve been dying to show off to your Android-toting friends. Unlike elegiac masterpieces Infinity Blade I & II that have been created by Chair Entertainment, Epic entrusted the creation of Infinity Blade Dungeons to a small team comprised of vets who worked on Gears of Wars.

It's one of a select few games Apple demoed during March’s iPad 3 introduction to show off the graphics prowess of its new tablet and the improved A5X chip that rocks quad-core graphics engine.

If this new gameplay footage is anything to go by, this dungeon crawler is going to raise the ladder of console-grade gaming on portable devices...
