AAPL takes heat on missing China Mobile deal, talks still underway

The Wall Street Journal earlier this month asserted that China Mobile and Apple had finally cut a lucrative distribution agreement that would put the iconic smartphone on the world's largest mobile network with more than 759 million subscribers, or more than twice the U.S. population.

China Mobile Shanghai’s website has even offered iPhone 5s/5c pre-orders as the giant wireless operator is gearing up to launch its new 4G TD-LTE mobile network in the 1.33 billion people country, Apple's second-largest market by revenue.

But alas, the deal hasn't materialized although the WSJ story suggested that Apple and China Mobile would announce the iPhone agreement "around December 18".

With no deal in sight, shares of Apple dropped nearly two percent in early trading Wednesday, with the carrier confirming to Reuters that it's still in talks with Apple. And so the cat-and-mouse game continues...

iPhone 5s rules Google’s 2013 phone searches

Google's Zeitgeist has become something of an annual tradition as the Internet giant wraps up each year by giving us a glimpse into what the world's been searching for using its search engine. Surprisingly (or not?), Apple's iPhone 5s took the top three slots in global search trends (#5 in the U.S.), behind Nelson Mandela and Paul Walker.

Google’s review of 2013 searches also shows the iPhone 5s leading 2013 search trends in the Phones category, although it's been edged out in the Gadgets category by Samsung's Galaxy S4 and Sony's PlayStation 4...

Qualcomm employee: Apple’s 64-bit A7 chip ‘set off panic in the industry’

In October, Qualcomm’s chief marketing officer Anand Chandrasekher made headlines when he commented in an interview that Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip was just a 'marketing gimmick' that added 'zero benefit' for the customer.

Qualcomm was quick to backtrack on the executive's remarks, and according to a new report, that's not what it was thinking at all. Speaking with a source inside the company, Dan Lyons says Apple's 64-bit chip rocked the industry...

Delightful concept videos envision iPhone 6c and iPhone Air

It's been a while since we've been treated to a compelling concept regarding Apple's next iPhone. SET Solution, which specializes in visual effects, 3D graphics and animation and video editing saw to that with a pair of rather incredible video concepts that try to envision Apple's next 'c' iPhone, the iPhone 6c, and the ultra-thin iPhablet dubbed iPhone Air.

As its name suggests, Italy-based SET thinks the next major iPhone revision should be ultra-thin and of course incorporate Apple's Touch ID fingerprint scanner. I've included both videos for your viewing pleasure right after the break so have a look and join us in comments...
