Instagram update removes option to share likes and activity to Facebook

Instagram updated its iOS client last night, bringing the app to version 5.0.11. The update is small—the change log only mentions one alteration—but significant, as it takes away the auto-sharing of activity to Facebook.

More specifically, users will now only be able to share images deliberately to Facebook using the in-app share button. So the change should go a long way in decluttering News Feeds, a common complaint amongst users...

Sentry teases Apex 2, the tweak that lets you group apps together

Sentry, the designer behind Auxo 2 and a bevy of other jailbreak releases, has teased a sequel to another one of his popular tweaks. Apex—the jailbreak tweak that allowed users to group app icons and reveal them using swipe gestures—has received the iOS 7 treatment, and it comes in the form of Apex 2.

If you're someone who likes to avoid using folders, then Apex is a jailbreak tweak that should pique your interest. The idea behind the tweak was good, but it was the implementation, with its smooth animations, that made Apex stand out.

Needless to say, it's good to see Apex running on iOS 7, as it evokes fond memories. Check out the full review of the original version, and a sneak peak at the new iOS 7 update.

Canalys: 34% of smartphones sold last quarter had displays larger than 5-inches

This fall, Apple is rumored to unveil not one, but two new iPhones: one with a 4.7-inch display, and a larger 5.5-inch model. The move doesn't really echo the company's previous handset strategy, but it's not hard to see why it would make sense.

When it comes to smartphone displays, big is in. According to a new report from Canalys, sales of smartphones with displays 5-inches or larger grew 369% last quarter, and they accounted for more than 1/3 of all smartphones sold worldwide...
