Apple's marketing should make a final decision on the next iPhone's name as the last step in pre-launch preparations. Many fans have expected the handset to be called iPhone 8, but a new report suggests the device will be marketed as iPhone X.

This is precisely how app switching in iOS 11 works on iPad—a quick upwards swipe brings up the Dock and if you continue swiping you get to a much improved app switcher containing Control Center along with the horizontally scrollable thumbnails of your recent apps.
From a user experience standpoint, any app switcher should be form factor-independent and behave the same on iPads and iPhones, so this could be the real deal.

Although the device depicted in the hidden tutorial videos appears to resemble an iPhone 7 sans a Home button, it's almost certainly a placeholder for a real iPhone 8 chrome photo.

What I'd like to know is if this gesture will work on existing iPhones. If not, 3D Touch-ing the left edge for app switching could make a comeback in one of the subsequent iOS betas.

The iDB team could not possibly be more excited for the upcoming iPhone 8. A completely redesigned form factor has been three years in the making. In my opinion, the crown jewel will be the new full screen OLED display. With OLED, the colors will be richer and the blacks, a true black. A new screen size, function area, and ear piece cut out will make wallpapers a new challenge.
Our Wallpapers of the Week collection has been able to greatly benefit from an unchanging resolution, for the past three years. But now, we are faced with a turning point in the device and, therefore, will need to dedicate efforts to provide wallpapers at the new resolution. This is a call to arms!
