iCloud.com Now Syncing With iOS 5 and iWork Apps

Apple's new iCloud service has taken another step towards its publish launch, with the combination of a new iCloud website and beta versions of the iOS iWork apps meaning cross-device syncing is almost here.

The new iCloud.com website offers users the chance to download saved documents for offline use, such as printing. And it also gives them the chance to upload your own iWork-compatible content, and then iCloud can push it out to iDevices using the same account.

Oh, and those iDevices? Syncing works from them too...

Chinese iPhone 5 “Clone” Shown Off in Video, May Be a Glimpse of the Real Thing?

A new video has appeared online which appears to show off one of the many Chinese iPhone clones available, but this one is a little different.

The knock-off in this particular video is an iPhone 5 clone, and while it's obviously a fake, rather than a pre-production sample, is it possible that this handset could give us a sneak peak at what we can expect the be lining up for in a few short weeks?

As BGR points out, that might not be as strange a proposition as it first appears...

74% of Verizon Smartphone Users Say They’re Waiting on the iPhone 5

When the iPhone 4 finally launched on Verizon's network, it was expected to be a godsend. U.S. customers could finally choose a different carrier if they had issues with AT&T. The device was projected to sell more than 5 million units — and then it didn't. Verizon barely managed to sell half that.

So why were analysts so far off? My guess is that it was related to a misconception that a lot of AT&T customers were unhappy, but we're not. There is also a good possibility that a lot of folks decided to hold off in anticipation for a summer-unveiling of a new model. In fact, analyst Gene Munster thinks it's a real good possibility...

With conflicting rumors reports that the iPhone 5 may be launched in September or October, the only thing we know for sure at this time is that there will be an iPhone 5 this year, and it's going to be big! When exactly this iPhone 5 will be released is a mystery.

If there is an indication of things moving along, it may be this report from The Guardian that claims that carriers have received sample versions of the iPhone 5 in order to test them on their network...

I can already see eyes rolling after reading the headline: "Great, another iPhone 5 rumor." If that's the case, then move along. Complaining that there's too much talk about the upcoming iPhone on an iPhone-focused website is like complaining there's too much chocolate in your chocolate milk.

However, if you are anxiously awaiting the device's impending launch, you'll likely be happy to hear this particular piece of gossip. A Sterne Agee analyst told investors this morning that the iPhone 5 won't be the "modest update" that a lot of folks are expecting...

Although it seems like we are constantly hearing conflicting rumors involving Apple's next smartphone, there is one thing all of the gossip seems to agree on: a release date. Not only do they all suggest a Fall launch, a lot of the information has pointed specifically to September.

We've heard this "confirmed" by everyone from analysts with inside sources to carrier execs, and the date lines up nicely with Apple's annual iPod event. Although September makes sense for several reasons, AllThingsDigital is reporting that Apple won't launch the iPhone 5 until October...

Yet again, we bring you news of iPhone 5 cases. According to MIC Gadget, iPhone 5 cases are "now everywhere" in China. The site has another gallery of the new designs, and these appear to be no different than any of the other cases we have showed you.

Chinese manufacturers appear to be confident that this is the design for the iPhone 5, as they have started mass producing them already. There is a huge incentive for these companies to have cases ready when the product comes out...

Sprint Feeling the Effects of Not Carrying the iPhone

The United States' 3rd largest wireless carrier held their quarterly earnings call yesterday, and the company posted a net loss of $847 million. In wake of the poor performance, Sprint's stock dropped nearly 16% by the time the market closed last night.

Although they added a cool million customers last quarter, the company lost 101,000 contacts. What could be causing such a massive leak? Sprint cited Apple's popular smartphone, especially the $49 iPhone 3GS, as a major factor for the customer deflections...

AT&T to Start Throttling Unlimited Data Plans This Fall in Time for the iPhone 5

Customers that are still on AT&T's unlimited data plan may soon see some of their grandfathered privileges revoked, as AT&T will reportedly begin throttling data hogs on its network come October.

Verizon has already started throttling 'unlimited' data customers, and AT&T looks to be adopting the same practice— all in time for the iPhone 5's launch in September. AT&T will be implementing this throttling to help speed up its slow 3G network that has plagued iPhone users for years.
