Leaked Patent Application Reveals Possible iPhone 5 Design Details

By now, most of you are aware of the growing feud between Apple and Samsung. The Cupertino company believes that Samsung is infringing on their intellectual property by copying design traits of their popular iDevices.

The latest chapter in this tale of litigation has found Apple and Samsung battling it out in a Sydney courtroom. The fighting has halted shipments of Australia-bound Galaxy Tabs for the time being, and it may have also yielded details about Apple's upcoming smartphone...

Did a Support Rep Confirm a Sprint-Bound iPhone?

Alongside the iPhone 5 rumors we hear on a seemingly daily basis, there has also been a lot of speculation that Apple would be expanding its carrier partnerships this Fall. Although they've come a long way from 2007, there's still a huge opportunity for growth.

The gossip thus far has focused on a possible deal with China Mobile and their 600 million subscribers, but there has also been some chatter regarding the 2 major U.S. carriers left that don't carry Apple's smartphone...

iPhone “Spy Shots” Are Easier to Fake Than You Think

It's no secret that posting a purposed "spy shot" of Apple's upcoming smartphone will bring all of the skeptics out of the woodwork. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the photos have a tendency to be a little on the fake side.

Advances in image-editing software have made producing a realistic-looking "leaked photo" extremely easy. How easy? Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo made the above image in under 10 minutes...

Apple to Unveil 4G TD-LTE iPhone 5, According to China Mobile

After months of "being in talks" with China's largest carrier, China Mobile, Apple seems to have closed a deal with the carrier that includes distribution for the upcoming iPhone 5. On top of that, China Mobile is now saying that it has reached an agreement with Apple to bring an iPhone 5 with 4G speeds to its network.

The report doesn't directly imply that a 4G-equipped iPhone would release on China Mobile this Fall, and recent reports have said that a 4G iPhone won't be seen until at least 2012...

Another “Spy Photo” of the iPhone 5

You know Apple is about to launch a new product when spy photos of the device start surfacing in bunches. Last week 9to5Mac posted a blurry snapshot of a purposed iPhone 5 in the wild, but most folks wrote it off as a 3GS.

Today, MacRumors posted another foggy photo of what could be Apple's next smartphone. The image depicts a device that seems to match up with some of the rumors we've heard regarding the iPhone 5's design, and is believed to have been taken in the office of a French carrier...

Why We Could See a Retooled iPhone 4 This Fall

BGR picked up on some interesting comments made by Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities yesterday. In a note to investors, the analyst cited a report from Sohu.com claiming that Apple and China Telecom were putting the finishing touches on an iPhone 5 partnership.

We've known for quite some time that Apple was working on closing a deal with China's 3rd largest carrier, but we didn't know how soon it'd be finished. White told shareholders yesterday that China Telecom would have 2 iPhone models by October of this year — 2 very different models...

67% of BlackBerry Owners Ready to Switch Over to the iPhone

It seems RIM's BlackBerry user base continues to decline, according to a new research study from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. Once the most popular smartphone in the United States, BlackBerry is losing market share rapidly, despite introducing several new handsets and its new BlackBerry 7 OS.

According to the study, out of 216 smartphone users 64 percent of them said their next purchase will be an iPhone, most likely the next-generation iPhone 5. Munster claims that his study also found that 67 percent of BlackBerry owners would switch to an iPhone.

Retailers Begin Discounting the iPhone 4 in Anticipation of Apple’s Next Model

All signs have been pointing to a September release of the iPhone 5, and retail outlets have begun to offer discounts for the iPhone 4 in anticipation of Apple's upcoming device.

In the US, Radio Shack and Target have already cut prices for the iPhone 4. If you're not interested in getting Apple's next generation smartphone this Fall, now would be an excellent time to pick up a new iPhone 4.

iPhone 5 to Ship in September?

A new rumor claims that Pegatron will begin shipping an order of 10 million iPhone 5 units in September. This order would place Pegatron as Apple's second design manufacturer, and would match recent rumors of iPhone 5 production beginning overseas.

This report is similar to other claims that Apple will begin shipping its next iPhone in September. The most recent rumor counters a September timeframe for Apple's announcement with an expected October release. However, a September date still seems to make more sense for an expected iPhone 5 announcement.

No Untethered Jailbreak Coming Until iOS 5

If you are currently jailbroken on iOS 4.3.5, we have some bad news. There is going to be no untethered jailbreak until iOS 5 is released.
