Best Buy Clue Points to October 21 iPhone 5 Release

We might just found our first reliable iPhone 5 release date rumor, and October 21 is looking like the magic day to mark on your calendars. The Verge has received a tip from a Best Buy employee that suggests the retailer is set for an 'Apple fixture' installation on the 21st.

What makes this seem so plausible is the continued rumor that October is indeed the timeframe in which we should expect an iPhone 5 to go on sale, with an announcement coming some time in the next few weeks. Does Best Buy know something we dont? It's entirely possible...

Sprint Raises Early Termination Fee to $350, iPhone Incoming?

Sprint has increased its early termination fee from $200 to $350, bringing it in line with both AT&T and Verizon. The new fee only applies to 'advanced devices' which, we assume, means smartphones and tablets.

According to an article on CNET, the fee will be prorated for now, depending on how long you have left on your current contract, which kind of makes sense. And that's the reason we're surprised Sprint is making this move...

iPhone N94 Prototype Front Panel Leaked, Reveals Design Very Similar to iPhone 4

Leaked iPhone components and parts have been surfacing recently, with the most recent prototype part relating to the allusive iPhone 'N94' prototype.

Rumors have been that the next iPhone will feature a larger screen with an edge-to-edge bezel, but this prototype leak indicates a LCD display completely identical to the iPhone 4. It's believed that the N94 prototype will be a cheaper model very similar to the iPhone 4, and the lower tier device is expected to rely heavily on iCloud for storage and streaming.

Sprint Staff Told to Not Discuss the iPhone 5

In a leaked memo, US mobile phone carrier Sprint has told its staff and customer representatives that they are not to get drawn into speculation about the possible arrival of the iPhone to the Sprint network.

Recent reports have suggested that Sprint could be joining the iPhone party with the release of the iPhone 5, bringing the number of US carriers stocking the device to three, with the possibility of T-Mobile also adding itself to the iPhone carrier roster...

According to a new report, the next generation iPhone, the "iPhone 4S," is rumored to be released in October, while the iPad 3 will see a regular yearly upgrade in the Spring.

The report comes from both TiPB and Japanese site Macotakara, with TiPB providing a October 7th launch date. Both sites have claimed that the iPhone 4S will debut in October and that the iPad 3 would be released in the Spring of 2012...

BGR picked up on some interesting comments made by Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities yesterday. In a note to investors, the analyst cited a report from Sohu.com claiming that Apple and China Telecom were putting the finishing touches on an iPhone 5 partnership.

We've known for quite some time that Apple was working on closing a deal with China's 3rd largest carrier, but we didn't know how soon it'd be finished. White told shareholders yesterday that China Telecom would have 2 iPhone models by October of this year — 2 very different models...
