Apple threatens to sue Proview over “damaging Apple’s reputation”

Apple and Proview have been in the news a lot lately for their ongoing legal battle over Proview's trademark of the term 'Ipad'. Many China cities have already banned the tablet, while Mainland China has yet to rule on the case. In an interesting turn of events, Apple asked Amazon China to remove the tablet from their store last week.

However this morning, a person familiar with the matter was able to get their hands on a letter Apple sent to Proview, threatening a lawsuit. In the letter, Apple claimed Proview was "damaging Apple's reputation."

We know, these iPad 3 rumors are starting to get a bit ridiculous. In the last two days we've seen images of the purported tablet, and learned that its processor may (or may not) be called the A5X.

Now 9to5Mac is reporting that it has come across photos of what appears to be an iPad 3 Retina display production line. The images were uncovered on a Chinese forum along with some interesting details regarding the tablet...

The iPad 3's processor is assumed to be called the 'A6', following Apple's recent history. The iPhone 4 has the A4 processor and both the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S have the A5 processor. The iPad 3 featuring an A6 processor makes sense.

However, according to a leaked image on Chinese forum WeiPhone, the iPad 3 will have an A5X processor, rather than A6...

There have been plenty of rumors surrounding iPad 3 specs and launch date. The iPad 3 is rumored to have a Retina display, upgraded cameras, LTE, possibility of Siri, and a quad-core processor. Apple is rumored to announce the iPad 3 on March 7th, and ship it a few days later.

Apple investigating new methods to detect water damage in iOS devices

The current method for detecting water damage on an iOS device is pretty ancient. Like other electronics, most of Apple's mobile products have liquid contact indicators that change colors when the device comes in contact with excessive moisture.

The problem with these indicators is that they can sometimes change colors without ever being submerged in water. For instance, heavy humidity can cause a device to appear as if it has suffered severe water damage. So Apple is looking to change things...
