9.7-inch iPad Pro and iPhone SE confirmed to have 2GB of RAM

With Apple's announcement of the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro on Monday at the 'Let us loop you in' event, there has been a ton of excitement over the amount of power built into these smaller packages.

Following the event, iDB shared the tech specs of the iPhone SE and the tech specs of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, but one of the things Apple never shares and prefers to keep to itself are the RAM specs for its devices. New information on Tuesday reveals both devices come with 2GB of RAM.

Cellular edition of Apple’s new 9.7″ iPad Pro has an integrated, non-removable Apple SIM

Tucked away on the iPad Pro Tech Specs webpage is an interesting tidbit about Apple's new 12.9-inch iPad Pro model. If you're in the market for that device and are contemplating buying a Wi-Fi + Cellular edition (Model A1674), know that the 9.7-inch iPad Pro ships with an integrated, non-removable Apple SIM.

This is the first time an Apple device has embedded the Apple SIM since its debut. The Apple SIM started shipping in October 2014 with the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 and was added last fall to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Roundup: first impressions of Apple’s new 9.7-inch iPad Pro

Apple announced its new 9.7-inch iPad Pro on Monday at the 'Let us loop you in' event, and although the tablet is already gaining a lot of hype for its on-par hardware and lower price from its bigger brother, you're still probably wondering just how powerful the little brother of the most powerful iPad ever made actually is.

In this post, we'll share some of the first reputable hands-on videos with Apple's new tablet to hit the internet since the announcement on Monday. With some insight, you'll have a clearer understanding of whether or not the smaller iPad Pro is the right one for you.

The differences between the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro

Apple on Monday announced a new 9.7-inch iPad that it's calling the iPad Pro. Instead of continuing on with its 'Air' branding, the company decided that the performance and feature set of its newest tablet called for more prestigious 'Professional' labeling.

The move makes sense, given how much the smaller iPad Pro has in common with its larger sibling, but there are also several differences between the two tablets. In fact, we felt that there were enough differences that it was worth compiling a list of them.

9.7″ iPad Pro certainly doesn’t skimp on camera tech, but is this a new normal for iPads?

Apple's best mobile cameras go into iPhones, not iPads, though a curious thing happened at today's unveiling of a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro—both it and the iPhone 6s share a powerful Apple-designed camera subsystem which takes sharp snaps in twelve megapixels and shoots video in 4K.

Even more curiously, the bigger 12.9-inch iPad Pro remains stuck with a previous-generation shooter even though that device was released barely six months ago.

The decision to give the 9.7-inch iPad Pro virtually the same camera subsystem as the iPhone 6s is a welcome surprise which we hope kicks off a new trend for Apple.

9.7-inch iPad Pro tech specs

Apple announced its new 9.7-inch iPad Pro on Monday at its 'Let us loop you in' event. It's a miniature powerhouse that includes a lot of similar tech from its 12.9-inch big brother. With the smaller price tag, and smaller footprint for those who need portability, many are eager to get their hands on one.

Starting at $599 for the introductory model and becoming available on March 31st with preorders beginning Thursday, March 24th, we know you have high expectations. Here are the tech specs you can expect from Apple's new 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

New 9.7 inch iPad Pro starts at $599 and will be available March 31st

Apple announced a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro to join its existing lineup of tablets. It comes with some interesting new features and some hardware bumps, and some excellent new configurations.

Powered by an A9X chip and sporting new display technologies like the True Tone display, a powerful 12 megapixel iSight camera with 4K video recording, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro makes for a wonderful portable workstation no matter the conditions where you're using the tablet.

If you're interested in picking one up, then obviously you'll need to know when they're available and what they're going to cost you.

Apple unveils smaller iPad Pro with True Tone Display, A9X chip, Apple Pencil support & more

At its press-only media event Monday morning, which is currently underway in Cupertino, California, Apple has formally announced a smaller iPad Pro alongside the iPhone SE, new Apple Watch bands and more. As previously suspected, the new device is a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro model that shares the same powerful internals with its bigger brother rather than it being a third-generation iPad Air.

These include Apple's most advanced A9X processor, a 2,048-by-1,536 pixel resolution screen with pixel support for the Apple Pencil, the Smart Connector that allows accessories to attach magnetically and provides power and data, and other perks—and it weighs less than a pound, which is the same wight as the iPad Air 2.

Everything we expect from Apple’s ‘Let us loop you in’ event on Monday

As you know, Apple has scheduled a media event on its Cupertino campus on this coming Monday, March 21. Earlier this month, the company sent out its predictably cryptic invites with the “Let us loop you in” tagline to select members of the press.

It looks to be a pretty significant event.

On top of an all-new four-inch iPhone model, we're expecting other announcements like a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro, new Apple Watch bands—including a black edition of the Milanese Loop—and a bunch of enhancements for Apple's operating systems.

New iPad model rumored to start at $599, same 32/128GB tiers as iPad Pro

According to a fresh new rumor based on sources familiar with the matter, Apple's upcoming iPad model, describes as either a third-generation iPad Air with the A9X chip, Smart Connector and Apple Pencil support or a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro, is expected to start at $599 for a baseline Wi-Fi-only model with thirty-two gigabytes of storage. In addition, as reported by 9to5Mac, the device should be offered in the same 32/128GB configurations as the iPad Pro.

Claimed iPad Air 3 case has holes for quad speakers, Smart Connector and more

After posting images of a purported iPhone 7 case with holes for a pair of speaker grilles and dual cameras on the back, gadget leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer today posted on Twitter images of a claimed iPad Air 3 case.

Corroborating the notion that Apple's third-generation iPad Air is basically a smaller, 9.7-inch iPad Pro with the same A9X processor, Smart Connector and a four-speaker setup like the iPad Pro, the images show off openings in the right places for quad speakers and the Smart Connector.
