Apple has posted a list of devices that will be compatible with the iOS 8 software update on its website. The devices include the iPhone 4S or later, iPad 2 or later, iPad mini or later and the fifth-generation iPod touch. Apple adds new iOS/OS X programming language: Swift

Swift, a programming language for distributed parallel scripting (if you're a developer, you know what I'm talking about), can now be used to develop apps for both iOS and OS X, Apple announced during today's keynote at its five-day WWDC developer-only show in San Francisco.

iOS 8 launches in Fall, beta release available today

Apple announced that iOS 8 will be available today as a beta for registered developers, while a full public release is slated for the Fall. The beta is available now through Developer Center for registered iOS developers. The software update will be free for compatible devices, which is the iPhone 4S or later, iPad 2 or later, iPad mini or later and fifth-generation iPod touch. In order to have access to the beta version, you must be signed up for Apple's iOS Developer Program… 

Apple announces all-new SDK for developers

Apple introduces Family Sharing in iOS 8

Apple introduces new QuickType input method in iOS 8

Apple has just announced that the iOS software keyboard is getting a boost in iOS 8 with an all new QuickType keyboard which enables predictive suggestions inside iOS Messages and other apps, in a manner resembling the downloadable Google keyboard and other third-party keyboards available for Android.

QuickType is system wide, it learns how you type to different people and supports Continuity for seamless transition between devices...

Leaked images seemingly show OS X 10.10 with Control Center, flatter UI and other iOS 7 features

Earlier this morning, someone has posted a set of alleged OS X 10.10 screenshots on Reddit only to pull them soon after.

In researching the authenticity of the purported photos, MacRumors has been able to dig up a few interesting tidbits concerning Apple's design direction for the next major update to its desktop operating system powering Macs.

The original photos have been removed since at the request of the original poster. We can't vouch for their authenticity and are reposting them here for entertainment purposes...

WWDC roundup: what to expect from Apple’s keynote

We're now less than 24 hours away from Apple's highly anticipated WWDC 2014 keynote. Beginning at 10 AM PST tomorrow, Tim Cook and other executives will take the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco to give us all a glimpse of the company's future.

We don't know exactly what's going to be talked about, outside of new versions of OS X and iOS, but the rumor mill has provided us with a bevy of possibilities. So, as we do every year, we've put together a roundup of all the things we're expecting Apple to announce...

iOS 7 adoption approaches 90% ahead of WWDC

With just a few days until the highly-anticipated WWDC keynote, where iOS 8 is expected to be unveiled, adoption of iOS 7 continues to rise. According to the latest statistics from Chitika Insights, relayed from PC Magazine, 89.7% of iPhones and 84.8% of iPads are running the latest software version. Those numbers are based on the millions of devices that accessed the Chitika ad network between May 22 and May 28 in the United States and Canada.

iOS 6 usage continues to decline, now accounting for 8.8% of iPhone web traffic and 7.9% of iPad web traffic. Less than two percent of iPhones are running iOS 5 or older software versions, at least those being used to access the Chitika ad network. Meanwhile, 5.6% of iPads are still running iOS 5 and 1.7% have iOS 4 or earlier…
