FilzaPlus integrates a full-fledged code editor with syntax highlighting into the Filza file manager

If you’re an avid jailbreaker, then you’re likely familiar with the Filza file manager, which allows users to access their handset’s root filesystem and add, change, or delete existing files.

Filza comes with a lot of features, including a plain text file viewer, but with a newly-released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed FilzaPlus by iOS developer Skitty, you can add a full-blown code editor with syntax highlighting to that list.

Make iOS’ Spotlight search feature more powerful with LuxSit

iOS’ Spotlight search function is severely underpowered, and with just a bit more oomph, it could be a significantly more powerful tool for both casual and power users alike.

It remains to be seen whether Apple will ever expand upon Spotlight’s seemingly limited search functionalities in upcoming iterations of iOS or not, but in any case, jailbreakers won’t need to wait around for that to happen. With a newly-released and free jailbreak tweak called LuxSit by iOS developer LacertosusDeus, you can enjoy an upgraded Spotlight search experience today.

EasyKeyboardX replaces your keyboard’s Dictation button with other shortcuts

Some people use iOS’ Dictation feature more than others, but if you find yourself on the opposite side of the spectrum and not using it as much as you’d initially anticipated, then you just might benefit from a newly-released jailbreak tweak called EasyKeyboardX by iOS developer Soh Satoh.

EasyKeyboardX essentially replaces the Dictation key on the iOS keyboard with a configurable shortcut key instead. With it, you can either use the button to switch between your enabled keyboards more quickly, or you can enter a specific text string that you’d like to be able to paste into any text field in a jiffy.

Jailbreak tweaks of the week: Dune, RePower XII, Vartaman, and more

Now that the WWDC 2019-centric iOS 13 excitement has come and gone, the jailbreak community is back to manufacturing jailbreak tweaks to improve the iOS experience on older versions of iOS.

It can be challenging to keep track of everything in the midst of your busy life, and so this roundup serves to talk about all the latest jailbreak tweaks that were released in the past week. As usual, we’ll kick things off by discussing our favorites and then outline the rest afterward.

Sleepizy makes it easier to fall asleep to your favorite music

Your iPhone’s native timer feature includes a function to play music from your library until the timer ends right out of the box, and this is particularly useful for falling asleep to your favorite music. But a newly-released jailbreak tweak called Sleepizy by iOS developer AnthoPak can make falling asleep to your favorite music more accessible than ever.

In a nutshell, Sleepizy lets you set a timer to stop your music directly from the Control Center interface, and it plays nicely with any music-playing application, be it Apple Music, SoundCloud, Spotify, YouTube, or something else.

A tfp0 exploit has been achieved on iOS 12.2

The latest jailbreakable version of iOS at the time of this writing is iOS 12.1.2, but that could change in the very future.

iOS hobbyist @NedWilliamson Tweeted a teaser Friday afternoon of what appears to be a successful tfp0 exploit for iOS 12.2 on an iPhone 6s Plus, a feat that was purportedly made possible after working closely with long-respected security researcher Brandon Azad:

RePower XII supercharges your iPhone’s power down menu

There’s no doubt that the iPhone’s native power down screen leaves a lot to be desired, but with the help of a new jailbreak tweak called RePower XII by iOS developer Haifisch, you can change that.

RePower XII supercharges the native power down interface, providing users with several other switches besides powering off. Those include:

Dune: A free and open-source dark mode jailbreak tweak

The jailbreak community is no stranger to dark mode-centric jailbreak tweaks, but the bulk of them cost money to be downloaded. Given the circumstances, dark mode lovers might be particularly excited to learn about a free release called Dune by iOS developer Skitty.

As you’ll see in the screenshot examples above, Dune can be used to give your mobile operating system a darker aesthetic overall. The tweak is designed to darken various UI elements found throughout the operating system, such as:

RecordAnywhere allows screen recordings even when your iPhone is locked

Screen Recording on iPhone

iOS 11 introduced a new Control Center toggle that could be used to video record your iPhone or iPad’s display on demand. The feature is incredibly useful, but it suffers from one substantial flaw: it doesn’t work when your handset is locked.

Enter RecordAnywhere, a newly-released and free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Muirey03 that solves this problem at the source.

Nostalgic for the classic iOS 6 Lock screen? Try this jailbreak tweak

iOS underwent a seriously polarizing redesign as it transitioned from iOS 6 to iOS 7, and for the most part, Apple still maintains the flat UI aesthetic over the older skeuomorphic design to this very day.

But for those who might be nostalgic of the good old days, a free jailbreak tweak dubbed Six (LS) by iOS developer Skitty ports the iOS 6-esque Lock screen with the classic ‘Slide to Unlock’ slider to even the latest iOS devices.

This tweak automatically turns off your iPhone’s LED flashlight if you forget it

Your iPhone’s rear-facing LED camera flash becomes an excellent makeshift flashlight in a pinch, but have you ever glanced at your handset’s battery level after accidentally leaving your LED flash turned on? I have… and it wasn’t pretty.

With a newly-released jailbreak tweak dubbed OhMyFlash by iOS developer NoisyFlake, you can prevent this from happening. The tweak implements a customizable timeout period, after which your iPhone’s rear-facing flash is automatically turned off.
