iOS underwent a seriously polarizing redesign as it transitioned from iOS 6 to iOS 7, and for the most part, Apple still maintains the flat UI aesthetic over the older skeuomorphic design to this very day.
But for those who might be nostalgic of the good old days, a free jailbreak tweak dubbed Six (LS) by iOS developer Skitty ports the iOS 6-esque Lock screen with the classic ‘Slide to Unlock’ slider to even the latest iOS devices.
As you’ll see in the screenshot examples above, Six (LS) holds nothing back when it comes to emulating the past Lock screen experience. The tweak brings the same classic semi-translucent interface that came standard on iOS 6 and earlier, and it supports most of the interface right down to the incoming notification banners.
Once installed, Six (LS) puts a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:
Here, you can:
- Enable or disable Six (LS) on demand
- Disable the Home button for unlocking your device
- Toggle 24-hour time on or off
- Enable or disable the lock sound
- Enable or disable the unlock sound
- Enable or disable the charge sound
- Disable the time bar
- Disable the slide bar
- Replace the standard Slide to Unlock text with something else
- Enable the classic charging view
- Enable the classic wallpaper shadow
- Enable the classic notifications
- Enable the modern time interface
The developer provides a Respring button at the top right of the interface for saving your settings as you change them. You’ll want to use this to make sure that any changes you make take effect.
If you’re facing severe nostalgia for some of Apple’s earlier versions of iOS, then it’s hard to go wrong with a tweak like Six (LS), which ports many of the older aesthetics to modern handsets.
Those interested in trying Six (LS) can download it for free from Skitty’s repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices and is open source on the developer’s GitHub repository.
