Video Stream Lets You Sync Videos From Your iOS Device With iCloud

Apple recently introduced Photo Stream, the iCloud service that keeps your photos in sync across your iOS devices and desktop computers.

The problem with Photo Stream is the distinct lack of video support. Apple and the carriers don't want to be sending huge video files over their networks. With the iPhone 4S now recording 1080p video, that's a lot of data going over 3G.

Thankfully, Apple has given developers an API so they can get their teeth into iCloud's storage servers, and that is where one developer saw its chance. Video Stream offers a way to keep video files in sync across multiple devices, just as Photo Stream does for images...

Apple Opens Up Apple TV Show Streaming to Canada, Australia, and UK

Earlier this year, Apple seeded iOS 4.3 for Apple TV owners. Among the update's new features was the ability to stream previously-purchased TV shows from iTunes to the living room via Apple's new iCloud service.

For some reason though the feature has been limited to folks inside the US... until now. Reports are coming in that Apple has finally opened up pre-purchased TV show streaming to Apple TV owners in other countries...

Rumor: Next iMac Will Have Built-In Apple TV

Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair chimes in on the Apple TV rumors by sharing his own predictions. According to Blair, the next-generation iMac for 2012 will integrate the Apple TV and iCloud, turning it into a personal computer with TV capabilities. Blair says:

“We think this makes sense because while we typically think about the newest TV’s hanging on the wall in large form factors, Apple could effectively start with what they already have on the manufacturing line and slowly push their offering from 27 inches and scale up from there to 32 inches and then move on to the 42, 50 and 55 inch market,” he writes. “In short, we believe the initial Apple TV is their iMac computer that can function as a TV, over the iCloud platform.”

I fail to see the practicality of a Mac/TV, but who knows? What do you think?

Apple Looking to Build Another Huge Data Center

Apple's demand for computing power and remote server space is growing at a rapid rate thanks to new services like iCloud, iTunes Match, and Siri.

Demand is growing so fast, in fact, that it appears that its new $1 billion dollar data center in North Carolina and its recently-acquired 12 petabytes of server space aren't enough to support Apple's cloud division anymore...

One of iOS 5's marquee features is the ability to backup and restore devices from iCloud without the need for iTunes or any of those pesky wires. Let's be frank, we've all got hundreds of those little white USB cables, but can we find one when we need it? We know we never can!

As is so often the case with such new and ambitious services as iCloud, it appears that the process is not without its problems, more specifically, problems surrounding a possible security risk.

OmniFocus Gains Siri Support and iCloud Syncing

For those that really take todo systems seriously, the OmniFocus app is often at the top of the list for getting things done. With a suite of apps that covers the Mac, iPad and iPhone, OmniFocus creators The Omni Group have created a real powerhouse of applications that many swear by.

In the latest update for the iPhone version of their OmniFocus app, the developers at The OmniGroup have taken Apple's lack of a Siri API and gone all Chuck Norris on it. Instead of waiting for Apple to give them permission to use Siri to create tasks, they have linked OmniFocus with iCloud, which in turn gives the app full access to reminders created using iOS 5's built-in Reminders app.

The end result? You can now tell Siri to create reminders in OmniFocus...

Apple released iTunes Match today, and users can now access their entire music library in iCloud on any authenticated iDevice running iOS 5. On the iPhone and iPad, iTunes Match can be easily enabled in the device's Settings.

Once enabled, iTunes Match will allow you to download and start playing any uploaded track at any given time on multiple iDevices.
