Facebook's iOS team has been extremely busy over the past couple of months. They've created two standalone applications, App Center and then there's that whole iOS 6 integration thing.

This weekend, the team launched a new feature for the social network's mobile app called Find Friends Nearby. The addition allows you to automatically add nearby people, as friends...

Facebook hires Apple’s UI Design Manager, possibly for a phone project?

According to a new report by InsideFacebook, Facebook has recently hired Apple's former Product Design Manager Chris Weeldreyer, as indicated by his Facebook profile. Weeldreyer, who has 8+ year experience as user interface design manager, started his new role at Facebook on June 18, 2012.

This gig is another indication that the social networking giant could in fact be developing a phone of its own (here are the mockups)...

Apple to Google: f**k you

Apple really stick it to Google by supplanting Google Maps in iOS 6 with in-house mapping service, didn't it? But more than anything, yesterday's WWDC keynote has proven that Apple is just as merciless without Steve Jobs.

As both tech giants fight tooth and nail for mindshare, Cupertino is now adamant to go thermonuclear on everything Google, not just Maps.

The iPhone maker demonstrated its incredible agility and willingness to fight Google on multiple dimensions yesterday. To that extent, iOS 6 could be viewed as the biggest step yet in the de-Googlification of iOS.

Here's why...

New in iOS 6: new Photos app sharing menu

One of the more notable changes we've come across in iOS 6 is a new sharing menu screen offered up in the Photos app.

Not only has Apple switched from text to icons here, but there are a few new choices to pick from as well...

New in iOS 6: update Twitter and Facebook from Notification Center

Along with adding deep Facebook integration into iOS 6, Apple has also implemented a new Update bar in Notification Center. The bar allows users to quickly compose a new tweet or status update.

While this may not be the third-party widgets we were all hoping for, it will certainly prove useful. Now you'll be able to post to both Twitter and Facebook, without ever having to open their respective apps...

iOS 6 lets you tweet and update Facebook from Notification Center

Taking a cue from the jailbreak community, Apple has added the ability to update your social networking accounts from directly within iOS 6's Notification Center.

Using two new buttons in NC, users will be able to post new status updates to Facebook, and new tweets to Twitter, all without ever leaving the drop-down menu...

Facebook integration finally comes to iOS 6

As expected, Apple has just announced all-new Facebook integration in iOS 6. And the company's iOS VP Scott Forstall is on stage right now going through all of the details.

Just like the Twitter integration added in iOS 5, the new Facebook integration will add system-level support for the social network. This will allow you to upload photos to Facebook and update your status from practically anywhere in iOS...

Roundup: what’s on tap for WWDC 2012 tomorrow

With iOS 6 being the main theme of tomorrow's keynote, Apple's chief executive Tim Cook, iOS boss Scott Forstall and marketing head honcho Phil Schiller (aka Mini-Me and Dr. No) will likely share stage time to announce the latest in Apple's mobile operating system powering the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Feeling excited yet?

We're also keeping our eyes peeled for the latest iPhone and Apple TV developments and are expecting shiny new commercials (hopefully they do better than latest celebrity adverts), plus the usual dose of Apple's trademark one-liners, superlatives and hyperbolas.

Here's what we're looking forward to, some of the stuff we've been keeping our fingers crossed for and what the rumor-mill predicted would go down tomorrow...

The social network gave the store a tentative release date of "the coming weeks," but we have yet to hear anything else about it. Until today. A screenshot of App Center surfaced this morning, leading folks to believe that a release is near...
