‘Apple Events’ channel now available on Apple TV

Apple TV owners have probably noticed that the 'Apple Events' channel has returned to their main menu this morning. As with previous events, this channel will allow you to watch a live stream of today's iPhone keynote—although clicking on it now just brings up a splash screen with the start time and other details.

Apple will also be streaming the event live to its website, where users running Safari on OS X and iOS will be able to tune in (sorry Windows users). For those that are unable to watch live, Apple typically uploads a video of its event to its YouTube channel within 24 hours or so, or you can simply follow along with us.

Mayo Clinic to reportedly participate in HealthKit demo at today’s event

Representatives from the Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic will be participating in Apple's media event later today, reports the Star Tribune. The outlet says the highly-regarded medical group will help show how data from iOS 8's Health app, and possibly the so-called iWatch, can flow into the more sophisticated systems of a major health center.

NYT: U2 to play role in tomorrow’s Apple event

It sounds like U2 is going to be involved in tomorrow's festivities after all. Citing sources familiar with the matter, The New York Times is reporting this evening that the popular rock band will be performing at Apple's iPhone 6 event tomorrow, and even says that it will reveal an integration with Apple’s products that is connected to its next album.

Apple's iPhone event is now less than a day away, and anticipation couldn't be higher. Two redesigned iPhones with larger displays and NFC, a new mobile payment service, and the iWatch, Apple's first major product unveiling since the iPad, are just a few things on the menu.

Apple has said that it will be streaming the festivities to its website and various iOS devices, but for those who won't be able to watch the keynote live, iDB has you covered. We will be here all day, providing coverage of all announcements made before, during and after the event.

September 9: the redesigned iPhone 6 and the mysterious iWatch

Ever since the introduction of the iPhone 5s, the Apple community has been looking forward to the iPhone 6 in hopes of receiving two much-wanted features – a larger screen and considerably longer battery life. These expectations, fed by countless rumors of everything from a built-in barometer to an NFC chip, are reaching an all-time high as the iPhone 6 is nearing launch.

For quite a while now, rumors of an Apple-made wearable device – commonly referred to as "iWatch" – have been floating around, stirring excitement among Apple users and urging Android vendors such as Samsung and Motorola to introduce their own smartwatches. While these devices are largely limited to displaying notifications and dealing with minor tasks, Apple's iWatch is rumored to focus heavily on health sensors and tracking.

With Apple making official the predictions of a September 9 event, the world is breathlessly awaiting the unveiling of whatever Apple has been developing over the past few years. This event could very well be the biggest Apple has had since the 2007 introduction of the original iPhone.

Apple to live stream September 9 iPhone event

Apple updated its website this afternoon to announce that it will be providing a live video stream of next week's iPhone event. On a new Live page at Apple.com, the company has posted a countdown timer that expires just before 10 am on September 9th.

We are expecting Apple to unveil two new iPhones during the event, at least one of which features NFC for a new mobile payment system. It's also believed that we'll finally see the firm's so-called iWatch, although rumor has it that it will just be a preview.

U2 rumored to be on hand for Apple’s iPhone 6 event

Some interesting rumors began bouncing around the tech world earlier today regarding popular Irish rock band U2 and Apple's big media event next week. The chatter has ranged from the iPhone 6 coming preloaded with the band's new album, to it performing live after the keynote.

Much of the speculation seems to stem from U2's secret video shoot in Dublin last week. According to The Sunday Times, the group closed down Samuel Beckett Bridge for the recording and placed black sheets around the set to prevent the public from seeing what they were shooting.

T-Mobile sends out invites for September 10th ‘Uncarrier 7.0’ event

T-Mobile today sent out invitations to a media event scheduled for September 10th—notably the day after Apple's iPhone keynote. As you can see in the image above provided by TmoNews, the invite reads "This time it's personal," with "7.0" printed largely in the background.

The event will be held in San Francisco, at the T-Mobile store on the corner of Market and 3rd street, and begins at 1 pm on the aforementioned date. There's no word on what will be discussed, but T-Mobile usually uses these occasions to make major strategic announcements.

September 9 invites wallpapers: “wish we could say more”

Today, Apple sent out invitations to an event hosted on September 9, 2014 at 10:00AM PST. Per usual, there is a rush in the community to determine what Apple has hidden inside the graphic. The "Wish we could say more" line has lead many to speculate about enhanced Siri optimization or the ability to action iPhone through voice commands on a wearable device. Just yesterday, Re/code claimed the highly anticipated Apple wearable, dubbed "iWatch," should launch alongside the iPhone 6 at the upcoming event.

As with many recent Apple announcements, designers quickly put their skills to work, publishing wallpapers inspired by the invitation. Inside are a few wallpapers, for your favorite upcoming Apple event.

Apple could announce its “wrist wearable thing” next month, says Gruber [updated]

Apple may unveil its so-called iWatch sooner than expected, according to Daring Fireball's John Gruber. In a new blog post this afternoon, the well-connected Apple pundit casually mentions that the Cupertino company plans to announce its "wrist wearable thing" next month.

Gruber's claim contradicts previous reports from various outlets, which have all suggested that the iWatch would land in October. But given his near perfect track record in predicting Apple plans, it's certainly possible that we could see more than bigger iPhones in September...

T-Mobile announces new ‘Music Freedom’ and ‘Unradio’ initiatives

During T-Mobile's event in Seattle tonight, the carrier announced a handful of new 'uncarrier' initiatives. There's Test Drive, which we've already talked about here, and two new programs for music lovers: 'Unradio' and 'Music Freedom.'

Unradio is an interesting new streaming music service from T-Mobile and Rhapsody that addresses "major pain points" of other services, and Music Freedom allows users to stream music without it hitting their monthly data allowance.

T-Mobile announces new ‘Test Drive’ program at latest Uncarrier event

T-Mobile has kicked off a press event in Seattle, Washington tonight that it is calling 'Uncarrier 5.0.' The provider has used similar uncarrier events in the past to announce industry-changing initiatives like 'Jump' and 'No ETF fees,' so that should tell you what we could see tonight.

John Legere has been on stage for a few minutes now, and has already made a number of announcements. Perhaps the biggest one we've heard thus far is a new program called 'Test Drive,' which will allow customers to borrow an iPhone 5s free for a week to test out T-Mobile's network...
