I don't know about your guys, but I'm kinda ticked we can't create photo albums on the fly on our iPhone or iPad. Thankfully, the jailbreak community is once again taking over where Apple slacked. We've already covered PhotoAlbums+, a jailbreak app that allows you to create albums and move pictures from/to these albums, directly from your iPhone, without the need of iTunes.

PhotoAlbums+ just got an update, and while it doesn't bring anything really new to the table, I felt like talking about this app again because it deserves publicity...

FBUploader Jailbreak Tweak Sends Pics Straight to Facebook From Photos App

If you've been looking for Facebook integration in iOS, a new jailbreak tweak called FBUploader allows you to upload photos straight from the iPhone's Camera Roll to Facebook. Typically, you would have to open the Facebook app, attach an image, add a caption, tags, etc. and upload from there.

With FBUploader installed on your jailbroken iPhone, you will have the option to upload to Facebook from inside the iPhone's Photos app...

Cydia Now Showing iOS 4.3.3 SHSH Blobs

I've seen countless complaints in the comments regarding saved SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella not showing up in Cydia. Well, I can finally expect to see those complaints put to a rest (at least until Apple rolls out another iOS update) as Cydia now shows all saved iOS SHSH blobs up to the latest iOS 4.3.3.

If you've launched Cydia today, you'll notice that if you previously saved your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.1, iOS 4.3.2, and iOS 4.3.3 they'll now appear in the top banner on the Cydia homepage on your iDevice.

When Apple unveiled their multitasking bar in iOS 4.0, they were fairly late to the party. As with multiple features, the jailbreak scene had already had multitasking apps like Backgrounder out for a while. Although it was belated, a lot of people really took a liking to Apple's new multitasking support.

Then there are people like me, who are constantly searching for a better alternative for switching between applications. Sure, there are apps like Stacks and Dock that make multitasking easier, but is there anything else available?

After Cydia was crippled by the the recent Amazon EC2 outage, jailbreakers have been seeking out alternative options to get their favorite iOS extensions. Currently, Cydia is widely known as the "only" jailbroken app store, but it certainly seems like the Infini Dev Team is looking to change that.

You may recognize them as the developers who are bringing back the popular Icy package installer, which has been absent from the jailbreak scene since iOS 3.0. But Icy's not the only Cydia challenger these guys have been working on. They have another project in the oven called Lima...

Last week, we posted a video of an interview with Cydia's creator, Jay Freeman (saurik). The clip was about 6 minutes long, and consisted of saurik showing off many of his favorite tweaks and iOS extensions in response to the question, "Why should you jailbreak your iPhone?"

The video garnered a lot of attention. It was sort of surreal to see the guy who's devoted much of his life over the last several years to developing and maintaining Cydia explain why he loves jailbreaking so much. It seems like the video's popularity ultimately led to its demise...

Icy Cydia Alternative Makes a Comeback

That's right folks, the silky smooth Cydia alternative is back up and running. For folks who have been around the jailbreak scene for a while, you undoubtedly remember Icy. The dpkg installer worked similar to Cydia, but always seemed faster and more refined than its counterpart.

Since Cydia and Rock joined forces, there really hasn't been any competition in the jailbroken app store industry. Icy is looking to change that by returning to the scene with a fresh coat of paint. Does it have what it takes to be a worthy challenger after being gone for so long?
