Purported iOS 6 beta download links leak ahead of WWDC

An intriguing post from the folks over at WeiPhone.com, a Chinese tech forum, is making the rounds on the internet this morning. The post claims to contain a list of official download links for iOS 6 beta and other unreleased software.

With WWDC starting tomorrow, we definitely expect to see developer betas released sometime in the next 24 hours (happened with iOS 5 last year). But if these links are legitimate, then we're all in for some big surprises...

How to run Absinthe 2.0 on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

It has been brought to our attention that Absinthe 2.0 doesn't work normally on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. When you click on the app icon to open it, nothing happens, and the Absinthe interface doesn't load. That's not entirely a surprise considering that Mountain Lion is still in beta, but more than a few of you have expressed troubles with the issue.

Likely, this was just an oversight by the hard working folks behind the Chronic Dev Team, and it will probably be fixed in an updated version of Absinthe. Until then, it's incredibly easy to work around this problem and run Absinthe 2.0 successfully to untether jailbreak your iOS 5.1.1 device. We show you how inside...

A look at TwitkaFly’s new Facebook plugin

Earlier today I had the opportunity to spend some time with the new Facebook plugin for TwitkaFly — the popular jailbreak tweak available on Cydia.

TwitkaFly is a tweak that allows you to send Twitter updates from anywhere by means of a user-configurable Activator action. It is also one of the most well supported tweaks that I know of, which speaks volumes for moeseth, its developer.

This new plugin will allow you to update your Facebook status, send a tweet, or do both at the same time. If you'd like to see how it works in action, then by all means take a gander...

We’re giving away three ‘Lima’ beta invites

Last week we brought you an in-depth look at Lima — the web-based Cydia alternative for jailbroken iOS devices. Needless to say, we were thoroughly impressed by what we saw.

If you're anxious to get your hands on Lima, then here is your chance. As promised, we're giving away three Lima beta invitations.

Want one? Check inside for the details...

This is a free jailbreak tweak available on Petrich's beta repo, which causes an instant blur effect for Notification Center.

Inside we have a brief video of it in action, along with the link you need to score a free copy for yourself...

Apple releases public iMessage beta for OS X

Want to get your hands on the new iMessage beta — the iChat replacement that's coming with OS X Mountain Lion this summer? If so, you can do so now, as Apple has posted a public beta download for all to enjoy.

iMessage was one of the prominent features of iOS 5, and it allows users to chat across multiple devices using the same interface that's used for SMS messages.

The beauty about iMessage is that it's basically just an IM client, which means you incur no SMS fees. Now with this latest update, you can start and/or finish conversations on your desktop or laptop...

Will Apple Open Up Siri for Other iOS Devices?

A few days ago, evidence surfaced in the latest iOS 5.1 developer beta that Apple could be bringing Siri to the iPad in the near future. The idea sparked some controversy, as a lot of folks don't see a use for the digital assistant on a tablet.

But what if there's more to it than that? Cult of Mac has discovered that the Dictation reference everyone is talking about is also evident on the latest iPod touch model. Of course, this could mean nothing. But what if it means everything?

Evidence That Siri May be iPad-Bound Found in iOS 5.1

Surprise Surprise. Not even 12 hours after Apple released the third beta for iOS 5.1, known firmware hacker Sonny Dickinson has already uncovered some interesting information.

Apparently the latest iOS update contains evidence that Apple is working on an iPad-compatible version of Siri, Apple's popular digital assistant. Dickinson uncovered the reference after loading iOS 5.1 beta 3 onto his iPad 2...

iOS 5.1 Beta 3 Brings Back “Enable 3G” Toggle

Earlier this morning, Apple seeded iOS 5.1 beta 3 to developers. At a glance, the update looked like your typical bug fix and maintenance release. But folks have already uncovered a new feature.

It's not exactly new. iOS has long since had the ability to toggle 3G data on and off. However it has been absent in recent software releases, and now it looks like beta 3 has brought it back...

Apple Releases iOS 5.1 Beta 3 to Developers

Finally, after nearly a month of silence, Apple has seeded the 3rd beta of iOS 5.1 to developers. As you may recall, the company pushed out beta 2 all the way back on December 12th of last year.

As several other sites are noting, the update only seems to be available via OTA (over-the-air) for previous iOS 5.1 users, but it should be available from Apple's regular developer portal shortly...
