Apple Watch hits Best Buy in Canada and Harvey Norman in Australia

Keeping true to its promise, Best Buy Canada today began carrying the Apple Watch in its retail stores throughout the country. The electronics retailer's online store in Canada is now selling Apple's watches, too. In addition, the Apple Watch is now available through the Australian department store Harvey Norman's outlets in Auburn, New South Wales.

Apple Watch now available for sale at Best Buy

Late last month, it was reported that the Apple Watch would be sold at Best Buy stores in August. Sales were said to start today, August 7.

Just as promised, the Apple Watch is now available for sale at Best Buy. The online sales have already begun, and limited in-store sales will begin as participating Best Buy stores open across the country later this morning. 

Best Buy will offer Apple Watch in Canada beginning August 14

Best Buy has not offered the Apple Watch since its April 24 debut, but now the American consumer electronics retailer is at last making room on its store shelves for Apple's wrist-worn device.

The Wall Street Journal recently said that Best Buy will begin to offer the Apple Watch in more than a hundred U.S. retail stores, and online, on August 7.

Just a week later, the device will hit Best Buy stores in Canada, according to MobileSyrup. This will expand the device's footprint in Canada, where it's been available exclusively through the online and retail Apple Stores from day one.

The Apple Watch is about to get even more mainstream exposure. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Apple's wearable will be sold in Best Buy retail stores later this summer starting on August 7th.

The initial rollout will be limited to 100 stores, but will eventually triple that amount prior to the holiday shopping season.

In an effort to drum up sales during the summer slump, Best Buy has announced that it will be hosting a "Black Friday in July" sale this weekend where it will be discounting iPads, MacBooks and a number of other products.

The promotion begins on July 24 and runs through the 25th, but those with a My Best Buy account can access the deals today. You can sign up for My Best Buy, for free, though it does require an email and phone number.

Best Buy app now accepting Apple Pay, coming to retail stores later this year

Best Buy announced today that it will begin supporting Apple Pay within its mobile app, effective immediately, and within its stores later this year. This is a major partnership for Apple, as it’s the first one with a member of MCX—the Walmart led consortium of retailers that are backing payment app 'CurrentC.'

A Best Buy spokeswoman told Recode that “we remain invested in MCX,” but she would not comment on when CurrentC will be available to the public and if the electronics retailer would accept it at launch. “We are actively monitoring their pilots,” she said. “It’s too early to declare whether we will take it at launch.”

Best Buy may not carry Apple Watch at launch

Hours ahead of Apple's media event, Reuters reports that one of the biggest Apple product sellers, Best Buy, may not be carrying the Apple Watch at the wearable's launch in April. Best Buy wouldn't provide confirmation, however Reuters cites "sources with direct knowledge of the matter."
