WidgetMemo lets you create memos you can pin to Notification Center

Whenever someone tells me something important to remember, or I have a thought that I don’t want to forget, I write it down on whatever scrap of paper I have within arms reach. Oftentimes, those notes get tossed out with the garbage and I forget about them anyway.

WidgetMemo aims to stop the unnecessary loss of important notes by letting you create them on your iPhone using a simple user-interface. Your memos can easily be viewed in Notification Center, where you presumably check regularly throughout the day anyway. So, you’ll never forget what you were supposed to remember…

Apps of the week: NPR One, Blood Bowl, 80 Days, and more

This week, we saw some major updates to popular apps and games, great new releases that some have been waiting for, and helpful launches that make our lives easier. The App Store was a-buzz with activity and that always gives me something to look forward to.

Whether you are looking to invest in a new product, want to relive your youth, or want to immerse yourself in a steampunk adventure, we’ve got a list of apps and games to entertain you this weekend.

IGN names ‘The Walking Dead: Season 2’ its Free Game of the Month

IGN has named Telltale Game’s 'The Walking Dead: Season 2' it's Free Game of the Month for August. We named the game one of our ‘Apps of the Week' for the iPhone and iPad back in March, and it normally retails for $4.99.

For those unfamiliar with the title, this is season 2 of Telltale's smash hit The Walking Dead, which is based on the dark comic book series. And it follows the story of Clementine, a young girl orphaned by the undead apocalypse...

Hit game ‘A Dark Room’ goes free for a limited time

This is a heads up for all of you gamers looking to try out something new this weekend. Developer Amirali Rajan has discounted his chart-topping RPG title 'A Dark Room' down to $0 for a limited time, as he prepares to launch its upcoming prequel.

For those who haven't played the game before, it's a little tough to explain. There's just a single screenshot of it in the App Store, and almost no backstory. It's text-based, with some RPG elements—it's one of those things you have to see for yourself...

Folks looking to fly Delta Airlines in the near future should checkout the company's newly-updated iOS app. Fly Delta for both iPhone and iPad were updated today with support for Delta Studio, a free in-flight entertainment service for passengers on select Delta flights.

Reverse-engineer crosswords with Bonza Word Puzzle

Looking at the App Store, it's easy to see that word games and puzzles aren't quite what the public is clamoring to download. Often, the endless runners and messaging apps take control of the charts, leaving good but more sophisticated games to fall out of common knowledge.

Bonza Word Puzzle, a new type of crossword, is trying to combat this trend with an innovative style and some additional quality features. How does it fare? Read on for a full review...

Rhythm-fantasy game ‘Deemo’ goes free as Apple’s App of the Week

Apple has just named Deemo, by Rayark, its App of the Week for this week. This means that from now through next Thursday, you’ll be able to pick up the popular game for both iPhone and iPad, for free—a decent savings of $2.

For those who haven't played it before, Deemo is kind of a hybrid rhythm and fantasy title. You play as the mystic character Deemo, who must help a lost little girl return home to her world by playing music on a magical piano...

Wikipedia reboots its official iOS app: native, speedy, mobile editing and loads more

I've never been a fan of Wikipedia's iOS app because it's basically such a piece of you-know-what. Available since August 2009, the software's never managed to win me over.

Put simply, it's always felt to me like a hastily written web app, because that's essentially what it is. But not anymore. Say 'hello' to the much-improved Wikipedia Mobile 4.0, now available as a truly native app for the iPhone and iPad.

Yup, no longer is Wikipedia on iOS a second-class citizen that wraps a basic web browser inside some iOS code!

The Wikipedia foundation has built the new version from the ground up for speed and it shows - everything is a lot snappier. There's a super-convenient table of contents sidebar but more importantly, now you can edit Wikipedia in the palm of your hand.

Moreover, Wikipedia Mobile makes it easy to switch to reading Wikipedia written in another language and the app is now available in more languages than before.

Facebook Messenger now lets you share and view fullscreen photos and videos

Facebook today issued a small update to the Messenger client for iOS. Now bumped to version 9.0 (yeah, their versioning scheme is a bit odd), the refreshed iPhone and iPad application finally makes it possible to share and view fullscreen photos and videos.

Previously, sharing a photo or a short video clip would render content in a smaller section within the larger conversation view, similar to Apple's iMessage...
