The difference between an Apple TV and an Apple Television

All the talk these days – at least before all the iPad 3 rumors took over – has been about the much anticipated Apple Television. Apple has certainly not announced anything, and some of us still are not convinced that Apple needs to enter a crowded market, but those rumors just keep on coming.

I'm one of those that just doesn't see why Apple needs to bring a television to market, especially considering there are already hundreds of TV manufacturers in the space that are all scrambling for market share. If Apple is to make an impact, then it needs to offer something that nobody else can. Something that differentiates.

The Apple TV that we currently know and love is a sign that Apple doesn't yet take the home entertainment business seriously. Famously called a "hobby," the Apple TV is a box that is full of potential yet seems almost held back. Almost neutered...

We knew the solar energy farm was going to be massive, but we had no idea how big. Today, in a company-wide environmental footprint report, Apple announced that the array is going to be one of the largest in the nation...

Having trouble keeping track of all of Apple's legal entanglements? We don't blame you. The company is currently engaged in courtroom battles around the world with both Samsung and Motorola, and is in an ongoing fight with HTC here in the US.

But it seems as though the latter spat is starting to wind down. The ITC just dismissed HTC's final complaint against Apple, and unless the Taiwanese manufacturer wins an appeal, the two-year old lawsuit could finally be coming to an end...

We recently told you about the success of the App Store in reaching nearly 25 billion Downloads. That's a truly amazing statistic. In that 25 billion there will no doubt be some good apps, some poor apps and some down right ugly apps. Apple files complaint against Motorola over FRAND abuse

Well we all saw this coming. Electronista is reporting that Apple has just filed a complaint with the European Commission regarding Motorola's recent legal actions. The handset-maker won an injunction in Germany last month, resulting in the temporary ban of some of Apple's products.

But Apple has maintained that the patents that Motorola is asserting against it are industry standard, and therefore fall under FRAND jurisdiction. And since Motorola doesn't seem to want to offer Apple a FRAND license, Apple went to the EC...

Analyst arrested for leaking iPhone sales projections

How many times have you come across an Apple-related rumor that came from an analyst and his "supply chain" sources? Just look at all of the Apple TV gossip — most of it can be traced back to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.

While we tend to write off most of their predictions, there are some analysts that actually know what they're talking about. But we don't see them very often, because the ones that do provide accurate information, usually go to jail...
