Rumor: iPhone 6s sports animated backgrounds inspired by Apple Watch’s Motion face

Apple's upcoming 'iPhone 6s' and 'iPhone 6s Plus' smartphones are said to include animated backgrounds inspired by the Apple Watch's Motion face, 9to5Mac learned from sources. Of course, Apple has offered dynamic wallpapers since iOS 7, but it's a single motif in seven color choices.

These new animated backgrounds created for upcoming iPhones are being described as sharing the same theme as the Motion face on the Apple Watch, which shows painstakingly crafted animations of jellyfish, multi-colored butterflies and brightly colored flowers.

Review: Astropad Mini turns your iPhone or Apple Watch into a pro graphics tablet for your Mac

We wrote about Astropad Graphics Tablet, an app that turns your iPad into a graphics tablet for your Mac, shortly following its February 2015 debut.

Designed and built by smart ex-Apple engineers Matt Ronge and Giovanni Donelli, the app has since been updated with support for FiftyThree’s Pencil stylus and gained other new features.

The team just released Astropad Mini, an iPhone edition of Astropad's iPad app with Apple Watch support for remote drawing into Mac apps and more.

Apple now selling third-party Watch accessories in its retail stores

Folks in the market for third-party Apple Watch accessories may want to keep an eye on their local Apple Stores. MacRumors has confirmed that the Cupertino company has begun carrying third-party Watch add-ons in at least some of its retail locations.

The first such accessory spotted in an Apple Store is ElevationLab's NightStand for Apple Watch. It's a simple, elegant stand, that costs $29.95 and it appears the company has partnered with Apple on product packaging and Sport band-matching colorways.

Swatch attempts to justify ‘One more thing’ trademark with a silly explanation

Swatch would have you think that its controversial “One more thing” trademark has nothing to do with Apple. A company spokesperson told Techradar today that its trademark for the “One more thing” phrase was inspired by a line from the TV show “Columbo,” an explanation people following technology news will have a hard time believing.

Swiss watchmaker Swatch became the subject of the Internet ridicule following news that it was recently granted a trademark on “One more thing,” a catch phrase late CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs used extensively when introducing new surprise products during Apple’s media events.

Best Buy: Apple Watch demand exceeding expectations

At the beginning of this month, the Apple Watch was made available at select Best Buy brick and mortar stores as a part of its first real foray into cultivating a traditional retail presence. As first reported by Fortune, Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly says that due to the Apple Watch's strong demand, not only is it increasing the Apple Watch's availability in its retail stores, but it's also looking to deepen its ties with Apple in general.

Nomad Stand for Apple Watch review

In my apparently endless search for the perfect Apple Watch dock, I have come across the Nomad Stand. Its simple design is what caught my eye at first, but after using it for a few days, I can say there is more to it than meet the eyes.

Most of the stands for Apple Watch I've seen so far seem to take the wrong approach. They appear to try too hard to design something that in many cases doesn't compliment the design of the Apple Watch itself, but actually works against it.

Nomad Stand succeeds where many others have failed.

Sketchy rumor claims Apple is working on smart Watch bands

Apple is working on new bands for its Apple Watch that will add considerable functionality to the device, reports Czech site Letem Svetem Applem. Citing a source familiar with the project, the outlet says, among other things, the bands will feature new health sensors.

These "smart" bands will plug into the Apple Watch's hidden diagnostic port, which means they could be compatible with current-gen models. And its sensors will be able to read and share data on blood oxygen level, blood pressure, body temperature and much more.

Watchmaker Swatch trademarks ‘One more thing’

Swiss watchmaker Swatch has managed to trademark “One more thing,” a catch phrase late CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs made famous around the world by using it extensively when introducing new surprise products during Apple's media events.

As discovered by Wirtschaft, the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) awarded the trademark to Swatch back in May following its original application in November of last year. It's scheduled to expire in 2024 though an opposition to the trademark is reportedly pending.

Gorgeous floral installation comes to life in London to promote Apple Watch

Apple Watch advertising has been amped up quite a bit with news of a remarkable eye-candy floral display which promotes the wearable device at Selfridges, a chain of high end department stores in the UK founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge.

According to design outlet Wallpaper, two dozen floral displays that wrap around Selfridges’ flagship store in London sport blooming flowers and other floral motifs directly inspired by the Motion face on the Apple Watch.
