The most annoying thing about Twitter's iOS and Mac client has finally been fixed: your DMs now sync properly across devices and platforms. This means reading a DM on iPhone will mark it as read on desktop, and vice versa. In fact, Twitter will now properly sync your read/unread DMs in all official Twitter apps, including the web interface at twitter.com, the mobile UI at mobile.twitter.com, Twitter for Mac, Twitter for Android and TweetDeck, another Twitter-owned property...

Instagram update adds front-cam stabilization, landscape support
Like it or not, video on Instagram video is here to stay. And with five million videos uploaded to Instagram in the first 24 hours and given the Instagram brand strength, small wonder that Vine shares on Twitter have plummeted since Instagram video debut.
Not resting on its laurels, just this past weekend Instagram received a small update adding support for the Cinema video stabilization feature for your iPhone's front camera, previously available on the rear camera only. Not only that, you can now shot video holding the Instagram camera in landscape orientation...
Vine adds protected posts, revamped camera, channels, revining and more
If you care about sending quick clips up to six seconds long via Twitter-owned Vine for iPhone, you should pause for a second and take a look at today's Vine update which brings a few major enhancements. Most notably, Vine 1.3 enhances your privacy by introducing protected posts.
Protecting a post will make it unavailable to the web at large so only the people you approve to follow you can see them (you can also protect your entire account.
This release also brings out a redesigned camera, new channels and trending posts, the ability to re-share someone's vine (finally!) and other perks. Go past the fold for the full breakdown...
Rovio’s ‘Red’s Mighty Feathers’ update combines Angry Birds and Bad Piggies
A while ago we stopped posting stories about episodic updates to Rovio's Angry Birds bird-flinging series because we felt these games have run their course. Today's update is different and noteworthy because for the first time Rovio has brought Angry Birds and Bad Piggies together in a Red's Mighty Feathers update to the original Angry Birds game.
The approach has resulted in an all-new gameplay that sees you shooting down wave after wave of pesky pugs advancing in their 73 crazy contraptions, including wacky flying machines...
Reeder update enables Feedly and Feed Wrangler on iPhone
Silvio Rizzi's RSS client for the Apple platform, Reeder, has built quite a loyal following. It's one of the first full-featured RSS readers on the iPhone which won me over with its elegant and sophisticated user interface, clever use of gestures and the ability to efficiently manage hundreds of feeds without crawling to a halt.
Silvio has been diligently updating the software with new features and today he pushed a new version which enables two popular Google Reader replacement services just as Google's web-based RSS client went offline yesterday...
Spotify’s Discover tab finally makes its way over to Apple devices
The Swedish streaming music startup Spotify has finally updated its iOS client today with a new Discover tab which made its way into the Android build back in December 2012 and four months later into the web interface.
Basically a music recommendation engine, Discover suggests similar songs based on your listening history and your playlists. Oh, and iPhone users will be happy to learn that Spotify now lets them fully customize their playlists.
This feature was previously inexplicably reserved only for the iPad client. Oh, and they just flattened the app icon so it fits better on your iOS 7 Home screen...
Microsoft enhances OneNote, revamps for consistent cross-platform look
Microsoft's otherwise fine OneNote app has seen little updates on mobile devices, with Evernote and other offerings beating the Windows giant handily to the note-taking punch.
Figuring it better do something about it, the Redmond firm on Monday issued a pretty major 2.0 update to iOS and Android builds which brings consistent look and feel across Windows, Windows Phone, Android and iOS.
And in addition to rendering ink on your iDevices, version 2 of OneNote enables full support for Office 365 notebooks in SkyDrive Pro, rich formatting toolbars on iPads to style your notes, search across notes and more. If you can't live without Microsoft's Office suite and prefer to run productivity apps from a single vendor for seamless sync, you should give OneNote a try...
Yahoo News iOS app gets cleaner UI, frictionless sharing and more
Yahoo has been busy updating its key iOS apps around a delightful new look. In weeks past, for example, the company has re-launched Mail and Search apps while releasing a brand new Weather app that has to be seen to be believed.
Each of these program has been meticulously rethought with a cleaner, flatter and more fluid user interface that's consistent with Yahoo's modernized design language.
Today, the Internet giant has issued a refreshed version of its News iOS app that brings visual tweaks while adding improved sharing and navigation, sponsored stories and other treats...
Reeder for iPhone goes free, support for Google Reader alternatives coming soon
Whenever I feel like skimming through my RSS feeds, I turn to Reeder, Silvio Rizzi's excellent RSS client for the iPhone and iPad. I've been using it for years now and with the impending July 1 Google Reader shutdown, Silvio figured he could kick his value proposition up a notch by making Reeder for iPhone free. In addition, he's busy working on the next update which will enable a number of Google Reader alternatives such as Feedly, Wrangler and others...

In the first major update since its release back in May, Google's cross-platform unified messaging software Hangouts has just enhanced your chatting experience with a couple new additions. I've included more information about this update after the break...
HipChat iOS app revamped as Mac client exits beta
Atlassian's cross-platform group messaging HipChat app launched in January 2010 following a one-month beta period. The Mac app, originally developed using Adobe AIR and in beta since Valentine's Day, is now finally ready for prime time.
If you hate AIR as much as I do, you'll be delighted that the team has now dropped Adobe's sluggish technology (good riddance) in favor of the native OS X experience.
And in addition to the rebuilt HipChat 2.0 for Mac, the company has also given its iOS client some much-needed love, pushing a major 2.0 update that's leaner, faster and includes many new features. Here's what's new in both HipChat for Mac and iOS...
