In time for the 2014 season, MLB.com At Bat app receives iOS 7 makeover

In time for the start of the 2014 Major League Baseball (MLB) season, the official MLB.com At Bat app has finally received its long-expected iOS 7-focused redesign. This is a major refresh as the app was last updated in October 2013.

MLB.com At Bat version 7.0, now available free in the App Store, has hit a home run for iOS 7 with a brand new interface (flatter, of course), a new league-wide scoreboard functionality and inline video playback. I've included a few screenshots of the new design and some additional tidbits right below the fold...

Yahoo News Digest in its first major update adds Weather and Statistics atoms

Following its January introduction, Yahoo's free News Digest app for the iPhone has quickly become part of my daily news routine. There's just too many news-reading apps out there with lots of longform content and too little time to be able to consume it all on a daily basis. That's where summarization comes into play. A hot new buzzword, summarization technology in News Digest basically uses improved algorithms from Nick D'Aloisio's Summly app that Yahoo bought for the reported $30 million.

In its first major update, News Digest version 1.1 brings two new "atoms" (digests of news stories) that cover Yahoo's popular daily habits, Weather and Statistics. There are a few other features and improvements, listed below the fold...

An update to Waze's free mapping, traffic and navigation app for the iPhone and iPad is about to land on the App Store later today, bringing integration with your iOS Calendar, the company wrote Thursday in a blog post.

More importantly, this Waze refresh allows you to navigate to Calendar events with just one tap, making it easy to access location-based events stored in the iOS Calendar, right within the app.

Aliens, jetpack and more in Gameloft’s latest Gangstar Vegas update

French games maker Gameloft has released an interesting new content pack for Gangstar Vegas, the latest installment in its Grand Theft Auto series which hit the App Store in June of last year.

The new keyboard is great, as it brings the app in line with other iOS 7 apps, and the same goes for the transparent status bar. And as for the additional handwriting languages support, it includes Arabic, Hebrew, Maltese, and more...

Realmac adds iPad support to Clear for iPhone, migrates Clear+ users to Clear for free

Realmac Software has finally added native iPad support to its popular Clear to-do application for the iPhone and iPod touch. They're also moving customers from Clear+ back to Clear for free.

These changes are in response to user confusion amid complaints from people who were uncertain which version to buy, with some even mistakenly buying the iPhone edition when they really wanted the universal version that natively supports all form-factor iDevices.

Clear for iPhone with the newly added iPad support is now available in the App Store for $4.99. Clear+ remains a separate $4.99 download, though it's going to be offered free of charge for a limited time to allow Clear+ owners to migrate to Clear without being forced to buy the app twice...

Users can now pin GIFs directly to their pinboards, which will show up in feeds (on the web, or within the mobile app) with a small play button. GIFs can then be played via mobile, shared to other social networks and of course repinned across platforms...
