Apple Maps to integrate Russian Yandex’s data in iOS 6, report says

Google's relationship with Apple may be on borrowed time. Apple Maps, set to appear soon in iOS 6, will reportedly use a local company's data Yandex to provide location-search details in Russia. A developer version of iOS 6 will send users to Yandex.Maps for further information regarding locations.

A search of Vladimir Lenin's Mausoleum, for instance, gets "more details on Yandex.Maps application or offers to download Yandex.Maps from App Store if the user doesn't have it installed," a Russian developer now using iOS 6 tells Bloomberg.

Apple seen rejecting applications that copy popular app icons

Earlier this year, Apple started pulling applications from the App Store that were blatant knockoffs of popular titles. This included games like Temple Jump, Tiny Birds, and Numbers With Friends.

Now it looks like it's applying the no-clone policy to app icons as well. A developer says Apple recently told him his App Store submission was rejected because its icon was too misleading for users...

Apple stalls on approving Siri-like Google Search update

It's obvious that Apple has a "my house, my rules" kind of approach to managing its App Store. And it's even more obvious that the company isn't very fond of Google at the moment.

So it's really no surprise that after three weeks, it has yet to approve the highly-anticpated Google Search update  — you know, the one that adds the Siri-like Google Now feature...

Devs say Doodle Jump still selling 300,000 copies per month

When the App Store first launched in 2008, it made a handful of developers extremely wealthy. Steve Demeter, for example, the creator of Trism, reportedly earned some $300,000 within a few months of the Store going live.

But since then, we haven't really heard much in the way of major developer success — other than high-profile acquisitions, and yet the dream of becoming a millionaire overnight with a hit app lives on. And this is why...

ProgressPercent gives you the status of your app downloads

Allow me to introduce you fine folks to ProgressPercent. It's a new jailbreak tweak that displays a percentage indicator under the icon of the current app you're downloading, giving you a better idea of its status.

The tweak is invisible. Once you've installed it, you won't know it's there unless you are downloading an application, or pop into the Settings app. There's just one option here, and that's to disable it...
