Yahoo today announced a renewed push into gaming with the launch of its Classic Games site. The site features an easy-to-use design that allows you to browse for and play games across the Web, Android and iOS devices.

The company also introduced the Yahoo Games Network, a new platform for third-party game developers akin to Apple's Game Center. It offers various tools including analytics, player authentication, monetization, and social sharing...

Apple updates its retail store webpage with new iOS 7 design

Apple posted a quiet update to the Retail Store section of its website last night with a revamped design. The new UI brings the portal more in line with iOS 7, and is just the latest among many design updates the company has made to frequently-visited Apple.com.

Gone are the skeuomorphic graphics, textured backgrounds and borders, which have all been replaced by healthy doses of white space and of course, thinner fonts. There's also now an edge-to-edge image of the Amsterdam Apple Store on the new landing page...

Twitter caught testing major Facebook-like redesign

I'm not big into social networking—Facebook, Path, Instagram, etc.—but I'm a longtime and frequent user of Twitter. I could give you a dozen reasons why I like it, but it comes down to its pool of high-profile users and its in-line streaming design.

That design, however, could be going by the wayside in the not-too-distant future. Twitter has been caught testing a major redesign for user profiles and tweet streams which features larger photos, rearranged tweets, and several other UI changes...

Bug in iCloud web portal hints at future Bookmarks support

It's been discovered today that an error on Apple's iCloud web portal displays a "Coming Soon" message for iCloud Bookmarks, suggesting that the feature may soon be available on the website. This would allow users to remotely access their bookmarks using virtually any browser.

The page, which you can see in the screenshot above, appears briefly when visiting this URL from your computer. It was originally accessed by installing the Chrome extension for the iCloud Control Panel for Windows on a PC, and so far, no one is quite sure what to make of it...

Facebook updates News Feed with new story bumping feature

I don't consider myself a big Facebook user, but I do check it from time to time. I live across the country from a lot of friends and family, so it's nice to see how they're doing every now and then. And for the most part, I don't mind the social network, except for the stupid News Feed.

It seems like every time I login, it's serving up posts in a different way, when I'd really just like them to be in chronological order. And wouldn't you know it, it's about to change again. Facebook announced this morning that it's rolling out a new News Feed story bumping feature...

Apple launches online retail store in Russia

It's been nearly a year since we heard of Apple's plans to begin direct sales in Russia, and this week it's finally putting that plan into action. The company has opened a web store in the country, allowing consumers to order iPhones, iPads and more.

Believe it or not, this is actually the first time that folks in Russia will be able to order products directly from Apple. Previously, the company's devices were only available via third-party retailers, as it doesn't have any physical stores in the country...

Apple rolls out new ‘Why iPad’ web campaign

Hot on the heels of its recently launched 'Why iPhone' web campaign, Apple has rolled out a similar advertising theme for its iPad. And as before, it showcases a number of reasons why the tablet has been so popular.

The new ‘Why iPad’ page highlights everything from awards, to features, and of course the iTunes ecosystem. Unlike tablets on other platforms, there are 300,000+ iPad-specific apps available in the App Store...

Firefox is not coming to iOS until Apple changes its ways, company exec says

Fans of Mozilla's Firefox web browser may be hoping to use their browser of choice on iOS, but according to Mozilla, that may not be possible anytime soon.

Mozilla has lifted the lid on the reason that it has yet to port the popular Firefox to Apple's mobile platform and, unsurprisingly, it's all down to Apple's tight control over how things are done on its devices according to Jay Sullivan, the company’s Vice President.

Currently, all third-party web browsers that run on the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch have to use Apple’s UIWebView component which is inherently slower than the Nitro used by the company's own Safari browser. Mozilla says that it will only bring Firefox to iOS when that limitation is removed, and Apple seems in no rush to do that...

Apple offering new interest-free payment plan in China

Last week, Tim Cook made it clear that Apple intends to beef up its presence in China. The CEO said that although the country is only its second largest market right now (behind the US), it will soon be number one.

With that, comes a report today that Apple has introduced a new interest-free installment payment option to its web store in China as a way of enticing potential customers that may not have enough cash on-hand...

Chrome accounts for 10.3% of third-party browsers on iOS

Google pushed out its widely popular Chrome browser to iOS last month to much fanfare. In fact, it took less than 24 hours for the app to reach the #1 spot in the App Store's list of top free offerings.

Now here we are, nearly a month later, and the initial buzz has warn off. So how many people are still using the browser? A new report from online advertising firm Chitika gives us some insight...
