Apple Now Blocking Samsung Galaxy Tab Sales in Europe

For those of you who missed it, Samsung agreed to delay the launch of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia last week. The move was in direct response to an injunction filed by Apple, who's claiming that Samsung has infringed on some of their patents.

The legal feud has been going on for several months, but it has started to get interesting over the last few weeks. Not only has Apple delayed the Galaxy's Tab launch down under, reports are coming in that they've blocked the tablet in Europe, too...

Your Apple ID is Limited to 10 Devices

Apple has always limited users to a certain number of devices for authorization with a specific Apple ID. The rules and terms of multiple device syncing with an Apple ID have always been a little confusing, with the introduction of iCloud posing an even bigger problem for how purchased content can be distributed and synced across multiple devices.

Apparently, the system of Apple ID authorization isn't as smooth as we all thought it was. You're actually limited to 10 total devices for one Apple ID...

Verizon Expected the iPhone 5 in June, Not this Fall

With a statement that only proves how thick Apple's iron curtain of secrecy really is, Verizon Communications CFO Fran Shammo made a comment today at the Oppenheimer Technology & Communications Conference that Verizon expected Apple to release the iPhone 5 this Summer.

Fran Shammo isn't exactly known for keeping a lid on Apple-related news, as he also said earlier this year that Apple's next smartphone would be a "global device."

Gizmodo iPhone 4 Case Finally Coming to an End

I think most of you folks will recall the infamous iPhone 4 debacle that occurred last Spring. Months before the device's official release, an Apple engineer left his test unit at a bar in San Jose, California.

Not only did someone pick it up, but they negotiated a deal to sell the thing to Gizmodo. As serious as Apple is about secrecy, and given Steve Jobs' passionate temper, a lot of folks figured this kid wouldn't live through the weekend...

This is What the iPhone 5 Could Look Like

I know we've said this before, but these renderings of what Apple's upcoming smartphone may look like may truly be some of the best we've seen. The iPhone 5 is one of the most anticipated devices in recent years, and artists have made several attempts to predict its design.

But this particular concept wasn't constructed from pure imagination. No, this design was built using the measurements from the leaked cases that we've seen floating around. Given that case leaks have been fairly accurate in the past, could this really be what the next iPhone looks like?

Apple Was Briefly the Most Valuable Publicly Traded Company

In an interview with Edge Magazine, EA founder Trip Hawkins commented that Apple would soon see its downfall. He noted that it wasn't necessarily Apple's own fault, but that history has taught us how peaking empires always falter.

Hawkins was right about one thing: Apple has peaked. Not in terms of innovation or profit, but for a brief moment Apple was the most valuable publicly traded company on the market...

iCloud Too Confusing for Customers?

Apple's iPhone and iPad advertisements totally set them apart from the competition. While TV ads for Android devices spout off specs like "it has a 1.5 GHZ processor and 512 MB of RAM," Apple's commercials use more familiar words like "fast" and "magical."

It's likely that the simplistic strategy is what continues to drive hoards of customers into Apple stores to snatch up their latest gadgets. That being said, for a company known for its oversimplified approach, does their upcoming cloud service seem a bit too complicated?

Google Planning to Combat iPhone 5 by Launching New Nexus Android Phone this Fall

Apple is set to launch its next iPhone in the coming months, and Apple's competition is gearing up to combat the iPhone 5. Eyes are on Apple's main competitor, Android, to see how Google and handset makers will react to Apple's new device this Fall.

According to a report from BGR, Google is looking to introduce new devices this Fall running the upcoming "Ice Cream Sandwich" version of Android. It's speculated that Google will unveil a new generation of its popular Nexus handset...

Apple Fires Back at Lodsys, Insists to Intervene in Lawsuit

The ongoing litigation between Lodsys and a large group of iOS developers just took another turn yesterday. If you've been living under a rock for the past 90 days, then you should be informed that Lodsys is suing a handful of iOS app developers for infringing on their recently purchased patents.

About 2 months ago, Apple filed a motion to intervene as a defendant against the patent licensing firm, but was quickly met with an objection from Lodsys' lawyers. After a few weeks of silence, Apple finally filed a response yesterday — and it's good...

iTunes Replay Service Still in the Works

Last week we reported on a rumor that had surfaced suggesting Apple was preparing to launch a new cloud movie service. iTunes Replay would allow users to stream videos from Apple's servers and download them on multiple devices.

According to CNET, however, the gossip is "at best" premature. After speaking with multiple sources inside the film industry, the site can confirm that Apple is working on a video streaming service. But the project's no where close to finished...

There Are Now 450,000 Active Apps in the App Store

Last month, Apple announced that their iOS App Store had reached 425,000 live applications. By "live" I mean currently active and ready to download, not the total number of apps that have ever been published.

Now, nearly a month later, it seems the mobile world's favorite application destination has reached another significant milestone. There are now 450,000 active applications in the App Store...
