AT&T has been working on IPTV for Apple TV since 2007

You know the old saying, "where there's smoke, there's fire?" Essentially it means, well the way we use it anyways, is that we wouldn't be hearing consistent rumors from a bunch of different sources unless there was some kind of truth behind them.

This proved true with the recent iPad gossip, and we imagine the same will hold true for the rumored Apple TV set. Chatter has really picked up over the last year regarding an Apple-branded television, but it's actually been going on for more than 5 years...

1080p videos actually don’t use that much storage on Apple TV

Yesterday, Apple announced its updated third-generation Apple TV, at a media event in California. The highlighted feature of the new Apple TV, along with its updated UI, is the ability to play 1080p videos. Netflix announced hours later that it will support 1080p streaming to Apple's new device.

But the question comes: is 1080p video really worth it -- over 720p?

How to easily track your new iPad and Apple TV order

It's that time of the year again. We're all waiting on pins and needles until March 16th when the new iPad is officially available to the public.

As Cult of Mac's Killian Bell points out, Apple's own Apple Store app is a great way keep tabs on your new iPad and/or new Apple TV shipment.

It's not going to make your new iPad hit your doorstep any faster, but it's a nifty way to ease some of the anxiety of waiting...

Apple TV features new single core A5 processor

While the third-generation Apple TV was rumored to have a dual-core A5X processor, the new media streaming device was announced with a different processor this afternoon. The new Apple TV, which features 1080p playback, actually packs an A5 processor underneath.

However despite what you might think, this isn't the A5 processor that Apple has included in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S...

Everything you need to know about today’s iPad event

Apple's iPad event ended three hours ago, and things are just now starting to quiet down. As most of you know, today was a big day for the Cupertino company, who made a number of big announcements.

Apple introduced two new major products, along with some new software, and dropped some interesting info. And for those of you who had trouble keeping up with everything, we've created a nice little roundup...

Hands on with the new Apple TV interface [Video]

The Apple TV received an update to its interface, shortly after today's iPad media event.

The interface, while nice at first glance, does little more than spiffy up the Apple TV's Home screen. Underneath the friendly bubble based interface, you'll find the same text-based menus of old.

It's basically just a shiny coat of new paint on top of the Apple TV's plain jane UI. It's certainly not a sole reason to purchase an Apple TV, or negate your jailbreak just to enjoy the new UI...

Netflix will offer 1080p streaming to new Apple TV

Following Apple's announcement of an upgraded Apple TV today, Netflix has just announced it will be offering 1080p streaming to the new device. Apple announced the new Apple TV at its media event in California, along with the new iPad.

The new Apple TV is priced at $99 and features 1080p playback and a sleek new interface. Netflix, being one of the main reasons many buy an Apple TV, will be the perfect app for taking advantage of the Apple TV's 1080p abilities...

Apple releases iTunes 10.6

While we've already heard about Apple's new iPad and Apple TV, a few more things are trickling out after the event that just wrapped up in California. Along with iOS 5.1 and the new iPhoto for iPad, Apple will also launch iTunes 10.6 this afternoon.

There's no word on new features, but it will of course feature support for iOS 5.1...

New Apple TV interface will be available for existing Apple TV’s via software update

Feeling a little blue about the Apple TV refresh now that you see it got a nice new interface along with 1080p? Don't fret, current Apple TV owners will be able to bask in the glory of that new interface as well via a software update later today.

Of course, if you're an Apple TV jailbreaker we advise you to hold off on updating if you want to maintain your jailbreak, but we have to admit it will be mighty hard not to give into the curiosity of the new UI update.

New Apple TV announced with new interface and 1080p support

As expected, Tim Cook just announced a new Apple TV with a brand new UI and 1080p support in tow.

The rumors have been swirling about the Apple TV refresh for some time now, and they ultimately proved to be true.

With the new Apple TV comes 1080p support for iTunes in the Cloud, which means you can re-download all of your purchased content in 1080p for free.

The Apple Store is down

As always prior to a huge event like this, Apple has taken their online store offline in order to update it with new products.

While Apple has not come forth and said what they will be unveiling today (and they never do), the iPad refresh is in the cards along with an updated Apple TV.

No one's 100% sure what the arrangements will be when the store comes back online, but various reports state that the Apple TV will be available for immediate purchase...
