The White iPhone Hero

An interesting and somewhat funny piece of information that iDB reader @EpicGameReviews sent us about the white iPhone 4. If you go to Apple's website, right click on the image of the white iPhone 4 on the homepage, and select "view image" or "image info", you will see how Apple named the image: white_iphone_hero_20110425.jpg.

Does Apple really consider the white iPhone 4 as a hero? I highly doubt it. Does Apple web team have a funny sense of humor? Most likely...

Apple Deemed World’s Most Valuable Brand

The story of Apple has to be one of the most interesting stories in American business history.

Not too long ago, Apple was a dying brand, another casualty of the Microsoft empire, a complete and utter lost cause.

Then someone named Steve Jobs came back to the house he initially built, and took Apple from certain death, to profitability, to desirability, all the way to the world's most valuable brand.

While it's not surprising that Apple is 2011's most valuable brand given its recent success, when you look at the big picture, it's an incredible accomplishment...

Has your Battery Life Improved in iOS 4.3.3?

Ever since Apple released iOS 4.3, many iPhone users have been reporting a noticeable decrease in battery life from iOS 4.2.1. While further releases tend to help battery life a little bit, users state that their iPhone battery life still doesn't last as long as it did on iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

Apple released iOS 4.3.3 earlier this week, and in addition to rectifying the infamous location tracking bug, the update was also supposed to bring battery life improvements. We conducted a similar poll a few days after the release of iOS 4.3.1, and the poll results still showed that iOS 4.3.1 battery life had not improved.

iRemoco, the Remote Control Helicopter for Your iPhone

Since Apple opened up the ability for developers to control attached accessories, I have been waiting for products like this to start pouring into the market. iRemoco is a mini helicopter that comes with an attachment for your iPhone or iPod.

An iOS application gives you full control of the iRemoco helicopter, using the dock connector attachment to transmit the signal. Andrew Ayres and Tom Sisterson have been working on this project for 18 months and it's finally ready for the masses...

Cydia Now Showing iOS 4.3.3 SHSH Blobs

I've seen countless complaints in the comments regarding saved SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella not showing up in Cydia. Well, I can finally expect to see those complaints put to a rest (at least until Apple rolls out another iOS update) as Cydia now shows all saved iOS SHSH blobs up to the latest iOS 4.3.3.

If you've launched Cydia today, you'll notice that if you previously saved your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.3.1, iOS 4.3.2, and iOS 4.3.3 they'll now appear in the top banner on the Cydia homepage on your iDevice.

How to Override In-App Audio and Listen to Your own Music

I've always wanted a way to listen to my music from the iPod app while I play games on my iPhone. Until multitasking came to iOS, that was just a pipe dream. Yet, even after Apple introduced multitasking, I still didn't really have the ability.

Many iOS games have their own soundtrack and completely turn off your iPod music. Luckily, the folks over at FSM have provided an easy tutorial for a work-around that will allow you to rock your own music while gaming on your iDevice...

Amazon Cloud Player Now Works on the iPhone

According to a report from TechCrunch, Amazon's Cloud Player has magically started working on the iPhone and other iOS devices. The service, which was initially available to only PC and Android users, seems to have gained iOS support.

When you visit the Amazon Cloud Player webpage, the website will inform you that your device is not supported, but after ignoring the message, all features seem to be working flawlessly.

iOS 4.3.3 Jailbreak Tools Updated to Address iPhone Vibration Issue

The iPhone Dev Team has just pushed out an update to its Redsn0w and PwnageTool jailbreak utilities for iOS 4.3.3. Redsn0w rc16 and PwnageTool 4.3.3.1 address the side vibration/ringer switch issue for iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS owners. The bug is only present on iOS 4.3.3 jailbroken devices.

The bug fix was found by famous iPhone hacker @i0n1c and he doesn't even have an iPhone. For those of you that have already updated to iOS 4.3.3 and jailbroken your iDevice using redsn0w rc15 or PwnageTool 4.3.3, you can install this fix simply by running redsn0w rc16 over your existing 4.3.3 jailbreak. Just uncheck the “Install Cydia” option and check any other options you want. Simple as that...

With the recent news that Apple is considering Over-The-Air (OTA) updates for iOS 5, people have begun to speculate about how these future firmware updates will work on the iPhone.

If Apple does start pushing software updates over 3G straight to iDevices, a new interface will need to be added to iOS for these in-house updates. A fellow Apple fan has created some mockups of how OTA updates could look in iOS 5...

How AT&T Recognizes Unauthorized Tethering from Jailbroken iPhones

In case you didn't know, AT&T has started cracking down on unauthorized tethering, specifically for jailbroken iPhones on a grandfathered unlimited data plan.

If you've gotten AT&T's "text of death" relating to your tethering usage, you're probably utilizing free tethering through jailbreak apps like MyWi. Understandably, AT&T doesn't want its users to have a free broadband connection through tethering hacks, and the carrier has started moving users over to its DataPro plan for $45 a month.

So, how is AT&T targeting unauthorized tethering on its network?
