Schools complain of iPad web filter issues after iOS 7 update

Apple's been making a big push into education in recent months, updating iTunes to allow users under the age of 13 and touting new features in iOS 7. It says the update makes it 'easier for institutions to put devices in the hands of students.'

But for many schools with student iPads deployed, the update is actually making things more difficult. Various educators across the US are reporting that iOS 7 has left their devices unfiltered when accessing the Internet away from school...

Apple’s iSpaceship campus clears another Cupertino hurdle toward 2016 landing

Apple's over-budget and behind-schedule proposed 'spaceship' campus took another step closer to reality Wednesday night. The plan first outlined in 2011 by Steve Jobs cleared the planning commission of Cupertino, Calif., Apple's homebase.

If no more hitches appear, the new Apple headquarters will go to city council later this month with final thumbs-up or thumbs-down in November...

Chrome’s incognito mode is flawed in latest iOS 7 update

For all of you folks buying gifts in secret for your loved ones, beware; Chrome's incognito mode has a flaw that allows users to recover searches performed in private. A new video has surfaced showcasing the flaw in action, and iDB has independently verified, that indeed, Incognito mode on the iOS version of Chrome ain't so incognito.

The problem occurs when searching in incognito mode and then exiting incognito mode and performing a web search on Google.com. The issue doesn't occur when exiting Google.com and searching using Chrome's Omnibox.

Incognito mode has never been exactly fail proof on iOS, but this is still a pretty embarrassing gaffe for Google.

Fingerprint sensors coming to Android devices in the next 6 months

Of course it was just a matter of time. As always, Apple wasn't first to market, but it was the first to make fingerprint sensors a popular technology that will be used in many future devices. This shift is happening barely two weeks after the iPhone 5s launched. Can't innovate my ass!

But six months from now Barrett says he will be able to choose from the latest Android models that will come equipped with a biometric sensor capable of letting him swipe his fingerprint to access a wide range of his online accounts.

That's the scenario being proactively pursued by the FIDO Alliance, a group of 48 tech companies, led by PayPal and Lenovo, hustling to implement a milestone technical standard.

Rdio’s radio service—which it calls 'Stations'—will be available via its mobile apps. Like Pandora or iTunes Radio, users won't be able to choose a specific song or artist. But they will be able to listen to music based on their tastes...

5coins helps you keep track of what you spend on a daily basis

Expense tracker apps are all the rage right now. I guess it is because they look so good on iOS 7, with their flat design and colorful accents. They sure do look better than my boring old checkbook ledger that I used to use.

5coins is a very simplistic expense tracker that helps you take note of your daily spending habits…

1Password 4 now available in the Mac App Store

The fine folks over at AgileBits have outdone themselves with the latest update to their awesome password management application. 1Password 4, a release countless months in the making, is now officially available for purchase in the Mac App Store. To celebrate, the team behind it is offering it at $39.99 — a 20% discount.

I've been a 1Password user for a littler over a year now, and I have to tell you, it's the best thing since sliced bread. To be honest, I wasn't much a believer at first. I used another password management tool called LastPass, and that seemed to work fine for me.

That was until I gave 1Password a real shot. Since then, I haven't looked back. There are just so many different facets of this application that make it the gold standard as far as password management apps are concerned. And 1Password 4 has so many subtle upgrades and painstaking attention to detail, that I feel comfortable labeling it the best password management app of all time.
