This tweak adds audio and haptic feedback to music controls on iPhone

Listening to music on our iPhones is one of the most classic uses for the device. The Music app has been with us since the beginning, in the form of the old iPod app. It has gone through a few iterations and improvements throughout the years, but there is always something that third-party apps are doing differently or better.

Feedback, by Ron Thakrar (@ronthakrar) enables audio and haptic feedback for media controls. It only works when controlling audio playback remotely, like in the Control Center or Lock screen. For example, it doesn't work within an app itself, when you're in the Music app and press play or skip track it won't make any feedback sounds.

Apple seeds iOS 8.4 beta 4 to developers

Apple seeded iOS 8.4 beta 4 to developers this afternoon. It is available immediately to those developers running iOS 8.4 beta 3 via Settings → General → Software Update. It is also now available as a download from Apple's redesigned Developer Portal.

The iOS 8.4 beta 4 release, which is build 12H4125a, comes nearly a month after iOS 8.4 beta 3. Apple announced at yesterday's WWDC keynote, that its new Apple Music streaming service was set to debut on June 30th. This means that we'll see the final version of iOS 8.4, in which Apple Music will officially arrive to the public, before the end of the month.

OS X El Capitan enables custom filters and editing tools in Photos for Mac

Last fall, iOS 8 brought us App Extensions.

App Extensions have given developers the means to extend Apple's mobile operating system by infusing their app's functionality into the Notification Center's Today view, Share sheet options and actions, keyboards, cloud storage services and Photos.

App Extensions have been universally acclaimed and a lot ink has been spilled in writing about custom keyboards in iOS 8. As an iPhone photography fan, I was way more excited about App Extensions within the context of  Photos for iOS.

There was just one problem: OS X Yosemite doesn't support App Extensions in Photos for Mac. Thankfully, newly announced OS X 10.11 El Capitan saw to that, meaning now developers of photo-editing apps can provide their own filters and editing tools in Photos for Mac.

Event recap: everything we learned from Apple’s WWDC 2015 keynote

Well, that’s all folks. Apple's WWDC 2015 keynote has come and gone. We now have a good idea of what the future looks like for the company's Mac OS, iOS and watchOS platforms, as well as what its plans are for the streaming music space.

A lot has happened in the last 12 hours, and we understand that it might have been difficult to keep track of everything. So as usual, we’ve put together this awesome roundup for you, of everything important that happened at today’s event.

Apple Music supports offline playback, paid-only Android support due in the fall

Reading through your comments about Apple Music, the iPhone maker's new $10 per month music-streaming service with 24/7 radio and other features, one crucial question seems to preoccupy the collective hearts and minds of those contemplating switching from Spotify: offline playback.

Thankfully, Apple's confirmed that its new streaming service will indeed permit music lovers to save their playlists and songs for offline playback, just like Spotify does.

If your Mac can run Yosemite, it’ll run El Capitan just fine

Just like the rumors have predicted, OS X 10.11 El Capitan is short on major headline-grabbing features Apple fans have grown accustomed to.

Instead, the Snow Leopard-style update focuses on speeding up everyday computing with such enhancements as graphics acceleration through Metal, faster apps enabled by Swift 2, battery saving technologies, stronger security and much more.

That means you won't have to break the bank to buy the latest and greatest hardware from Apple in order to run El Capitan because it will run just fine on most recent Macs, according to the official OS X 10.11 release notes that Ars Technica unearthed today.

New iOS 9 features Apple didn’t mention today

During Apple's WWDC keynote this morning, it offered up a preview of iOS 9. It discussed a number of major new features in the upcoming OS update, including a smarter Siri, improved Maps and better battery life.

But as usual, there are a number of new features in iOS 9 that Apple didn't really talk about today. The slide you see above gives you an idea of what some of those features might be.
