Some of the Features Coming to iPhone iOS 4.2

iOS 4.2 beta has been released a couple days ago, and it apparently comes with a few new features that 9 to 5 Mac tracked down. Now it's nothing breathtaking but it's nice to see iOS being tweaked a bit to make it even better than it already is.

Here is a list of new features you can find in iOS 4.2:

Steve Jobs Email About the White iPhone 4

The white iPhone 4 has been way overdue. First supposed to be available at the same time as the black model, it's launch was postponed several times. Last time we heard from Apple about the matter, they said the iPhone wouldn't be available until "later this year". So much for a clear timetable.

iDB reader Nathan emailed Steve Jobs and asked him more details about the white iPhone 4 release date. Nathan was lucky enough to get an answer from Steve apparently within minutes. As usual, the reply is more mystical than clear...

AT&T to Launch 4G Network in 2011

Fierce Wireless reports that according to AT&T Operations CEO John Stankey, the company will launch commercial LTE service by mid-2011. AT&T is apparently working with its LTE vendors to get the network ready for launch and is even already testing it in Baltimore and Dallas.

For those of you who don't know, LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and it is basically what you'd call 4G. Just like you would guess, it offers much faster download and upload speeds than the current 3G capability we have on our iPhone...

Google Voice for iPhone – Preview of GV Mobile+

Some of you might remember the application called Google Voice Mobile, which was approved in the App Store last year. When the battle between Apple and Google started heating up though, the application was pulled from the App Store because it "replicated features that come with the iPhone", namely the "phone" part. The app quickly went underground and made its way to the iPhone anyway via Cydia.

Since Apple loosened the app approval process last week, they invited Sean Kovacs, the developer of Google Voice Mobile, to resubmit his application to the App Store. Woohoo, great news indeed. MacRumors has had the chance to have a quick glance at the application, rebaptized GV Mobile+ for the occasion. It looks pretty good...

Windows 95 Running on the iPad

Why? Why would anyone want to get Windows 95 running on an iPad? I guess because they can! That's what YouTube user MSComputerVideos did by creating this tutorial that whill show you how to get Windows 95 on your iPad.

Let me warn you, it's ugly! Not as bad as the music used in this video though...

While the iPhone Market Share is Dropping, Android’s is Rising

A new report by comScore shows that the iPhone is losing ground on Android in the US smartphone market. RIM (Blackberry) still has the most market shares, Apple comes at the second place and Android is 3rd.

Even though the rankings remain the same, RIM and Apple's share of the market decreased to the advantage of Android, which increased by 5 points. While boring, these numbers are a sign of what's to come...

Website Review: iPhone Ringtones and Wallpapers [Sponsored]

I get many offers from websites to do paid reviews of their services but I rarely (if ever) do it because I usually don't think the site is good enough to share with you. I was recently contacted by the guys over at eSeth.net to do a review of their site. To be honest, they're paying me money for this but that doesn't mean I'm going to be gentle with them.

The site is a mobile community where quality content like themes, wallpapers and ringtones are shared by members around the globe. The site currently has over 500 iPhone 4 wallpapers, and over 1,000 wallpapers for iPhone 3GS. There are also over 2,600 mp3 ringtones. Obviously these numbers are changing everyday as more and more content is added by members...

iPhone 3GS Running iOS 4.2 Jailbroken with Sn0wBreeze

iH8Sn0w, the developer of Sn0wBreeze sent a tweet a few hours ago telling he had successfully jailbroken his iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) running iOS 4.2 beta. Apparently, Cydia, Icy or Rock won't work though, which is kind of inconvenient and makes the jailbreak useless.

The point is he did manage to jailbreak the new beta release of iOS 4.2...

iPhone 4 vs iPod Touch 4G: Speed, Display, and Camera

The new iPod Touch 4G comes up with a lot of new hardware making it a bit closer to being "an iPhone 4 without a phone". But really, do you know how the new iPod Touch compares to the iPhone 4?

The guys over at letemsvetemapplem.eu have conducted some tests that show that besides being a few months younger than the iPod Touch 4G, the iPhone 4 still kicks ass...

5 iPhones Were Made in the Time it Took You to Read This

Yes, by the time you finished reading the title of this post, Foxconn produced about 5 iPhones. Now I let you imagine how many iPhones are made in the time it's going to take you to read the rest of this post.

Last week we shared with you an article about where the iPhone is made, in which the CEO of Foxconn said his company makes 137,000 iPhones per day. If you do the math, that's almost 1.6 iPhone per second...
