iPhone Falls From Airplane, Still Works

Ron Walker is a Jump Master in the US Army. Basically, his job is to make sure army parachutist are ok to jump. During one of his missions, his iPhone 4 sneaked out of his pocket, and fell 1,000 feet down. At that time, he was resigned to buy a new iPhone later.

When he landed, some of his coworkers advised him to try to track his iPhone with Find My iPhone. Seconds later, his iPhone was localized, a couple miles away from where he was...

iOS 4.3.1 to Improve Battery Life?

As we reported last week, iOS 4.3 comes with serious battery drains for some users. While I haven't updated my iPhone 4 to 4.3 yet (I need my unlock), I can tell that the battery on my iPad 2 4.3 isn't that great at all.

The guys over at BGR got their hands on a 4.3.1 build and were didn't see anything new in there, besides the fact that battery life seems a bit better. They didn't conduct any kind of scientific test on it so it's hard to verify if battery is indeed better...

Apple Pulls “Gay Cure” App From the App Store

Five days and over 145,000 signatures later, Apple finally pulled the Exodus International app from the App Store. As harmless as it looked on the surface, the app dubbed as "Gay Cure" was terribly offensive, especially to the gay community.

A representative for Exodus International says "Our mission is to reach those with unwanted same-sex attractions and help them to reconcile their sexuality with their faith"...

The iPhone Killed T-Mobile

Unless you live under a rock, you probably know by now that AT&T is in the process of buying out T-Mobile for $39 billion. According to T-Mobile execs themselves, the US branch of Deutsche Telekom was not doing very well financially speaking, and this is all the iPhone's fault.

According to the NY Times, things started going downhill for T-Mobile US in 2007, when customers would leave T-Mobile by the boatload to get on AT&T who was the only one selling the iPhone at the time. I was actually one of those people who left T-Mobile for the iPhone...

Comex’s iOS 4.3 Jailbreak uses a Userland Exploit

Last week we reported about Comex being the first to jailbreak iOS 4.3 on the iPad 2. Today we find out a bit more information about this iOS 4.3 jailbreak. In a reply to a tweet asking him what kind of exploit Comex had found in iOS 4.3, he said that he uses a userland exploit, meaning the jailbreak might be applied directly from the device, a la JailbreakMe.

Because a userland jailbreak can easily be patched via a software update, and with the rumors of iOS 4.3.1 coming in the next couple weeks, I doubt we will see Comex's jailbreak before then...

Fast-forward four years later and I can say that the iPhone has changed my life, literally. Not only the iPhone has allowed me to change the way I communicate and stay connected, but the iPhone has also allowed me to quit my job and make a living blogging about this revolutionary device...
