TidySpring, a New Jailbreak App to Clean Up Your iPhone Springboard

TidySpring is a new jailbreak application that brings easy springboard customization to your iPhone. The tweak is pretty simple and straightforward.

After installing the app from Cydia, you will have to go to the Settings app as TidySpring doesn't come with its own icon. From there, you will have loads of options to turn on and off in order to customize your springboard the way you want it. But don't just take my word for it, check out the video below to see TidySpring in action...

Apple Files Lawsuit and Dismissal Against Kid Who Sold White iPhone 4 Conversion Kits

You might remember a few months ago, when we covered the story of Fei Lam, this kid who had made over $130,000 selling what he claimed to be authentic white iPhone 4 conversion kits via his website. Heck, the kid even sold a kit to Steve Wozniak.

According to MacRumors, Apple filed a lawsuit against Lam and his parents yesterday, "claiming infringement and dilution of its trademarks and engaging in deceptive practices through his conversion kit sales through his website at whiteiphone4now.com."

Google Unveils Google Wallet, Apple Sits and Learns

Earlier today, Google unveiled yet another product: Google Wallet. Very simply said, Google Wallet is the result of a partnership that will allow Google to have NFC (Near Field Communication) built in most of upcoming Android devices.

For those of you who don't know, NFC is a wireless technology, which among other usages, will allow you to replace your credit card with your smartphone. Sounds awesome, doesn't it?

AndroidLoader Now Available in Cydia

A couple days ago we told you about AndroidLoader, an upcoming jailbreak application that replicates the way Android lets you see all your apps on one single page. AndroidLoader is now available in Cydia for $2.99.

Looking at the comments left on our previous post about AndroidLoader, it is my understanding that you guys wouldn't find it very helpful and that it might be a bit overpriced for what it does...

New iPhone App Lets You know Whether the PlayStation Network is Up or Not

Whether you're a PlayStation user or not, you've most likely heard about the problems Sony has been having maintaining its online gaming network up lately. The company has repeatedly been the target of hackers for the past couple months, and things are still not looking up for the electronics giant.

Adding insult to injury, a developer created an iPhone app that checks the status of the PSN, reporting whether it's up or down...

NowStream Lets You Stream Torrents to Your iPhone, No Jailbreak Required

NowStream is a web application that was developed during this weekend's TechCrunch Hackathon by Carnegie Mellon student, and future Google intern Sohail Prasad. The web app allows you to stream torrents directly to your iPhone via Mobile Safari.

The app allows you to grab any torrent link, paste it in the web interface of the app and start streaming. There's obviously stuff happening in the background but we don't know much about it so far...

How a Guy Got Beat Up Because of the Find My iPhone App

Another one of these stories that fall under our newly-created FML category.

You've most likely heard about Apple's Find My iPhone app, which when installed on an iPhone or iPad, allows you to track the location of the device in the eventuality it would get stolen. In short, that's a great app that allowed many people to recover their stolen iPhones.

The problem is this app can also come back to bite you, or rather to punch you, as 27 year old iPhone owner Brent Johnson was unfortunately able to verify not too long ago...

Customize Your Tethering Status Bar with Tetherize

Ever thought the glowy status bar that shows up when tethering your iPhone was kind of dull? Want to spice things up a bit? Then Tetherize may be for you, assuming you use the native tethering capability, and not a jailbreak app like MyWi or PDAnet.

Tetherize is a new jailbreak application that allows you to slightly customize the tethering status bar by adding text to it, or by stopping the glossy bar from glowing. That's all there is to this app so far, although the dev promises "loads of new styles coming up"...

You Gotta Watch This Guy Playing an Amazing Guitar Solo on his iPad

The latest iPad 2 commercial says that for musicians, the iPad is inspiring. Apple sure got this one right!

We've seen our share of musicians using iPhones and iPads to create amazing stuff but this video just blows my mind. Guitar shredding on an actual guitar is impressive, but shredding a solo on an iPad using GarageBand is just unbelievable.

Don't take my word for it though. Check out this guy killing it on his iPad...

Apple Gets to Have a Peek at Samsung’s Yet-to-Be Released Phones

There is a legal battle going on between Apple and Samsung right now. You might recall last month when we reported that Apple was suing Samsung for copyright infringement. Apple claimed at the time that Samsung's latest devices strangely look similar to their iPhone. It took only 11 days for Samsung to countersue Apple, with 10 patents infringements claims.

Things are looking up for Apple as a San Jose judge ruled that Samsung shall give 5 of its latest devices to Apple's legal team for them to make sure those devices do not copy the iPhone in any way...

Apple Sued for Racial Discrimination, Doesn’t Have Anything to Do with the White iPhone 4

As a French citizen living in the US, I am amazed by the amount of lawsuits filed by Americans on a constant basis. There always seems to be a good reason to sue someone, even if it sounds frivolous.

Racial discrimination is a valid reason to sue someone for sure, and Apple is about to verify that as 2 NY men are suing the company on the grounds that they are black. Apparently, two gentlemen from NYC were told by an Apple security agent that they were not welcome because of their race...

The iPhone Finally Makes its Way to India with an Interesting Subsidy Model

iDB readers that don't live in India (that would be 99% of you) might just want to skip this post, unless you want to learn about an interesting subsidy model this Indian carrier is using.

I often get emails from Indian readers complaining about Apple not selling the iPhone 4 in India. As powerless as I am, my only response usually is "I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do". Today, I'm glad to report to our Indian readers that the iPhone 4 is finally making its way to India.

According to TUAW, the iPhone 4 is going to hit the Indian market this Friday, May 27th, compliments of local carrier Aircel...
