You Could RT Us and Like Us… Now You Can +1 Us

Today Google unveiled +1, the company's new attempt to doing something in the social space. Similar to Facebook's Like button, hitting Google's +1 button is a way of saying "I like this post", or "check out this article". In short, clicking +1 will publicly give something your stamp of approval. It can then help friends, contacts, and others on the web find the best stuff when they search.

We just implemented the +1 button on iDB and of course, we want you to use it. You will see the little +1 button on every page of the site, right next to the Twitter and Facebook buttons. Make sure to hit it as much as you want because anything you can do to help spread our iPhone wisdom is much appreciated.

Of course, you can still follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to our RSS feed.

New App Lets You Add a Signature to Your Text Messages

SMS Signature is a new application available for jailbroken iPhones that will allow you to, as you probably figured out, add a custom signature to text messages sent from your iPhone.

After downloading the application from Cydia, you can use the Settings app to configure SMS Signature. From there, you can create and activate a custom text signature. From now on, every time you send a text message, the signature will automatically be appended to it...

iCloud Could Be Free, if You Buy Mac OS X Lion…

Apple Insider heard from "people familiar with Apple's plans" that part of the iCloud features may be offered free of charge to those Mac users who upgrade to Mac OS X Lion.

My assumption is that iCloud will be MobileMe's replacement and in addition to offering email, remote file storage, calendar and contact syncing, iCloud will also let people stream their own iTunes library...

Brilliant Marketing: Apple’s $1 Billion Data Center Magically Appears on Google Maps

Up until today, if you looked for Apple's billion dollar data center in North Carolina on Google Maps, you could not find it. The location was there but it just showed some farmlands and nothing much around.

Things have changed. As of now, you can see Apple's North Carolina data center on Google Maps, and it seems to be one of the latest satellite images of it. So why didn't this data center show up on Google Maps before?

Additionally, SlideAway keeps track of your unread mails, SMS, missed calls or push notifications, displaying a count of unread items right from your lockscreen...

Google Just Renewed its Maps and Search Partnership With Apple

Because Apple has reportedly been working on its own mapping software, there were expectations that the company might drop Google Maps in the upcoming iOS 5 to be unveiled next week at the WWDC in favor of its own solution.

Google's ex CEO Eric Schmidt put an end to the speculation and confirmed yesterday at the D9 conference keynote that Google had just renewed its search and maps partnership with Apple, has we had already hinted at 4 days ago...

Drunk Texting, There’s an App for Preventing That

I wanted to start this post by telling a drunk texting story of mine but I figured this might not be the right place for that. If like me you have experienced drunk texting before, you now how embarrassing the situation can be.

Now if you're a frequent drunk texter, you might either want to talk about it to a professional care provider or check out the TUI Checkpoint app in Cydia, a new jailbreak app that will help you prevent those embarrassing moments...

iPad 2 Jailbreak to Be Released in 3 Weeks? [Updated]

Here is an interesting piece of news for iPad 2 owners out there. According to iPhone hacker Veeence, the Chronic Dev Team is just 3 weeks away from being done with their new jailbreak, which will most likely work with the iPad 2 as well.

It was only last week that the Chronic Dev Team posted an update on their blog asking us to not bug them about the iPad 2 jailbreak, and here you have Veeence throwing a little more oil on the fire...

This is What I Want iOS 5 to Look Like

We've seen our fair share of iOS 5 concepts lately. From multitasking and app switching to speech recognition, these concepts are basically all we got while waiting for iOS 5 to be unveiled at the WWDC next week in San Francisco.

Designer Frederic Bianco spent countless hours working on his iOS 5 concept and the results are spectacular. His work consists in a 97 slides presentation, going through different part of the UI, and sharing his vision of what the lockscreen, widgets, the settings, etc, should look like on iOS 5...

Jailbreak Killer: Apple Claims Its First Victim

It hasn't been 20 minutes since I published a post about iOS 5 likely to take a stab at the jailbreak community that Apple may have already claimed its first victim. Its name? MobileNotifier, the exact same app we reviewed and praised this morning.

After spending 8 months working on MobileNotifier, Peter Hajas announced on his blog minutes ago that he was "taking a break from MobileNotifier and Widge for a while". Simple coincidence, or did Apple made him an offer he can't refuse?

iOS 5 to Kill the Jailbreak Community?

On the 1st of January, I published my annual predictions for the iPhone for the coming year. In there, I mentioned that 2011 was going to be the year of iOS, and even though we have yet to see what Apple is cooking up for us, it seems that I was right about that point.

My 2011 predictions for the iPhone didn't stop there. On top of dropping a few features I think the iPhone 5 will sport, I also made the bold statement that Apple will open the doors to a world of apps and tweaks that are currently only available in Cydia. Want to call me crazy? Not so fast...
